McCain is ineligible to be President of the United States.

I shouldn't say I don't like him because I don't know him. I should have said I don't like the thought of him anywhere a button that launches nuclear missiles.

ANYWAYS. I didn't make this up. This is all legitamite information and an interesting topic of debate that will almost certainly come up if he gets the Republican nomination. Where did I lie to you?

i was talking to a guy who sits next to me in math today, and he said that he would rather have Bush than Hillary.

sorry bud, as dumb as he may seem, i can gurantee that Bush has a higher IQ than 99% of the people that think he's a dumbass. although not very well spoken, Bush is pretty damn smart.

I don't know the answer to this, but I am pretty confident that he is eligible considering how far he's gone with his campaign. Should I believe the shitloads of people supporting him... or some kid on newschoolers who seems to know more about politics than the rest of the country?

I also happen to have the same opinion that yauch = dumbfuck.
Thats 4 people being the same person?

so you think he shouldnt be allowed to be president because he was born on a US base outside of the US? are you serious? you are so fucking narrowminded, maybe if you kill all the candidates besides ron paul he will win. maybe.

Aggravated students with too much time on their hands and a basic knowledge of US constitutional legislation... McCain's one weakness.. but how did they know???

Alright genious, now what

Based on his SAT (and likely IQ based on it), no he isn't "dumb" per say, but I scored better than he did, and alot of you probably did too.

He knew what he was doing. They didn't go into Iraq for WMD, he's not that dumb. He just lied to you, and it helps his cause if people think he's just a dumbass rather than actively fucking them over.

His administration are filled with PNACers working on their own agenda. He lets them do their thing and he dutifully takes the blame for all the problems caused by that agenda.

Ok, wtf do you really think the rest of the country knows about politcs?

Did you mean prime time television?

The people supporting him that recognize this issue are obviously working under the assumption that no one is going to challenge McCain's citizenship status because of his long record of service to the country.

I'm pretty sure theyre wrong.

You cant base an IQ off a SAT, and neither test will portray an individuals cognitive ability accurately.

You are an idiot. Being a citizen at birth hapens if ONE of your parents are citizens. Seeing how BOTH of his are he is a citizen regardless of WHERE he was bourne.

Bullshit

SAT is very closely linked to IQ scores.

sat_vs_iq.JPG

And IQ is a very accurate indicator of cognitive ability (scholastic achievement in this link), infact, it even correlates to brain size

you're an idiot, because you missed the topic of debate

everyone knows he's a citizen

the question is if he is a "natural-born citizen" in the constitutional sense

do you even ski? or do you just sit around on this site making annoying arguments about pointless issues?

your arguement makes sense, but you dont need everyother post in the thread, just let it live without commenting evry five minutes

please,go do something else.

Lol, dude the comment was made directly on a post that I made, why the hell shouldn't I respond?

I was actually moving to Whistler for this winter and had made arrangements for lodging and a job, but thanks for reminding me I'm gonna be on probabtion for 2 years and probably stuck in the US (I'll have to read up on the restrictions). If they had set the sting for 2 weeks later I would have been in another country. fuck

no offense man....... But one if he raelly was ineligable dont you think that people would have known. second his parents were citizens he just happened to not be born in the USA states but was at a base, and third you are just a dumbass man

Haha, closely linked my ass dude, that graph isnt comparing shit. The ASVAB is a multiple choice assessment test, not an IQ test. The Ravens test is a nonverbal multiple choice test, and while you can infer IQ from it, its far from the most trusted of IQ tests. Gee, looks like when you hand a person a standardized test, they do about the same on it! And the correlation isnt "close" at all, use your eyes and look at the fucking deviation. Sure, you can get an estimate, but I doubt anyone would accept a IQ score converted from a SAT as legitimate.

The entirety of what I have to say of that next comment you made depends on the validity of the article you post (The one here seems to be about IQ and motivaiton, not head size...). But from all of the studies I've seen and read, brain size or brain ratio has little to no effect on the individual level. Species level, yes, my head being .05cm larger than hers = no.

As for IQ's and SAT's being good tests that accurately measure cognitive ability; Bull. Shit. Assessment tests are inherently flawed, both by their format and by their creators. I had a student who has failing in school and (hate to say it) kinda a loser, but had the highest scores across the board out of all the students in my SAT class. Some people are just good at unraveling the test and picking up on the relationship of answers and questions. As a teacher, I can look at a reading passages questions and answers and get most right without reading the passage. A lot can be inferred from the way the test is made, if you understand and know its subtleties, which some people can inherently do better than others. Finally, the SAT's and IQ's are terrible tests because they're made by rich white guys for rich white guys. Look who the SAT caters most to:

1997SAT.gif

This is data from a 1997 SAT, 1 million test takers average scores. There is bias, and this bias confounds the score and assessment. The entire idea of having a test or standardized analytical assessment for ones intelligence is somewhat ridiculous. Intelligence can be any number of things, such as tracking an animal, knowing how to fix a car, speed reading, logic and reasoning, ability to recall the 27th digit of pi... theres an infinite amount you could test for, and just because someone is good at one or many 'skills' doesnt mean they are a genius - you could (for an extreme example) have just had a lucky savant that knew only your questions. I'm sure people out there are stupid enough to trust numbers that we so ungracefully bestow on someones 'ability', but speaking from a SAT tutor, I've seen a lot of dumb kids get really high scores and lots of smart kids completely stumped by a assessment test. Ones intelligence will never be able to be truly assessed and assigned a nice neat number.

"Despite widespread popular belief, U.S. military installations abroad and U.S. diplomatic or consular facilities are not part of the United States within the meaning of the 14th Amendment. A child born on the premises of such a facility is not subject to the jurisdiction of the United States and does not acquire U.S. citizenship by reason of birth."

And to the several people who say, "Oh, you don't think he's thought of that before?"

Of course he has thought of it before, but with the support of the right people, the issue isn't going to come up in the mainstream media anyway.

In any scientic study relating IQ to SAT there is a coefficient of right about .8, showing a very high correlation. If you would like to design a study, run it and prove the scientific consensus wrong, I would be glad to read it.

As for IQ being a good indicator of "cognitive ability", that lies in how you define the term.

If you define it as "g" or the General Intelligence factor used in research, there is a 90% correlation.

"Despite some popular assertions, a single factor for intelligence, called g, can be measured with IQ tests and does predict success in life"

http://www.psych.utoronto.ca/users/reingold/courses/intelligence/cache/1198gottfred.html

Of course a student could have a high IQ and do badly if he doesn't give a shit.

The "smart kids" that are getting stumped are generally the ones who try very hard in school and study endlessly to succeed they have motivation, but the SAT is good at taking motivation somewhat out of the equation and delivering a better assesment of inherent potential ability (studying for an SAT test is much less effective than for the general tests you take in school).

The "dumb kids" that score high are the ones who don't give a shit about bullshit the school system is pumping out these days, but are inherently gifted in the thinking department.

Cool, looks like I've got your attention for a few more posts, cause we aren't there yet. LOL (# 11?)

But seriously, what am I supposed to do when retards continue to pop in and try to make a point that has been absolutely refuted several times. ie, McCain being born in the US.

seven.

As much as I dislike mccain (I reaaaaly do) I think this arguement is stupid.

If you really want to though, go out and sue him so he can't be our president, but please don't make pointless threads on NS thinking you know it all. I'm sure he's thought about this too, and I'm sure he's much smarter than you. What the fuck does scoring higher on the SAT have to do with your intelligence. And think about how long ago he took the SAT and how different it was.

I,d like to see what happen if something like that is brought up to general media.

it is stupid but it's in the law.

there is no way to proe icepointa argument are stupid, theya re ture but the law is stupid so it would be interesting to seeif they would change it quick.

Like I said, they aren't worried because with the support of the right people, topics like this will never come up in the mainstream media.

And we're talking about GWB's SAT scores in case you thought it was McCain. I've already explained that there is a clear relationship between SAT and IQ, infact the relationship is thought to have been even stronger at the time GWB took it.

LOL (#12?)

I think this argument is no good reason to keep someone from being president either. It is a technicality. But I wouldn't hesitate to use a technicality to make it harder for that man to get in the Oval Office.

well icepointa, you must be smarter than the rest of the United States.....your history teacher will be proud.

but i still think you're retarded.

You're refering to the people hating on Yauch and rubbing their dicks while looking ino eachothers' eyes, right?

I respect IcePointa, hes got his arguments down, he researched it. And it certainly is an interesting idea. And he probably started this thread to see what everybody else things about it, like all threads, and also to see if anybody can prove it wrong or right, the more people thinking about, the better

Okay, lets tackle why you are wrong.

1) The study you cited didnt use actual IQ tests, they were comparing a ASVAB to the SAT and magically extrapolating an IQ. Let me get this through your head: the ASVAB is a test to see if you are eligible for military service. Its multiple choice, timed. The SAT is a test for a college to see how 'smart' you are. Its multiple choice, timed. Do you see a connection and the huge ass missing link? Real IQ tests (like the Ravens they tried to do, which is flawed due to the fact they cut the assessment test's writing section out - read the paper!) require an extensive writing and analysis by trained professionals. Comparing them to SAT, ACT or any other type of multiple choice standardized tests fun, but it doesnt predict ones IQ very well. Sure, there is a correlation (.8 for the SAT to ASVAB, not what happens when they tried to do a 'real' IQ test), as anyone would expect, but there are cases where it doesnt work, and I doubt any of these would have shown in their small sample size (only 1000).

2) SAT tests do not show inherent ability in ANYTHING other than SAT style questions. I can raise a persons math score by 150 points (my average) by telling them to do less math and approaching problems from another angle. Its a terrible assessment test in many, many regards, and scores do not correlate with GPA (having one only has a 22% statistical chance of predicting the other).

3) I really wanted to know where you were going with the "High IQ = higher brain size" argument. That seemed like a gem. Get back to this, pleeeeeeease?

Man, i bet you don't know the first thing about Hilary's politics. You're just like every other little faggot on this site. Just cause she looks like she's about to violently attack a crowd of people with a dagger doesn't mean she isn't a good candidate.
