MBP Problems

I'm having some problems with my MBP, wondering if anyone else has experienced the same thing:

1) Backlight for the LCD is skimping out on me and the left side of the screen gets dark after using the laptop for a few hours straight. It's a come-and-go problem but when it comes it is extremely annoying.

2) Lately when running on battery power there will be a "click" and then the laptop will just shut off. It's happened 3 times and each time it's been at or around 50% battery power. Yesterday it shut off at exactly 50%. It won't turn on afterwards, I have to plug it in for it to work.

I've got a 15" MBP, the second one to come out (2.0Ghz). Bought it in July, looks like I'm going to have to send it back but I'll have to buy an external HDD to store all of my stuff on, first. Soooo bummed on this.

That sucks, MBP's did have a number of problems, but Apple should warranty that. Try posting on Macrumors.net for more info, they're awesome over there.

^ To add, rather than Mac Rumors, try Apple Discussions on the Apple site. They actually have pros from the company answer your questions, and it's really quite simple to use. You need an account on the apple site, but that also takes like 2 seconds to make. Here's the link:

But yea i bet that's a warrantee issue. They'll cover it.

Well running on the battery it shut off at 80% about a week ago. I'm just waiting to buy an external HDD to back up my files so I can send the computer back and hopefully they can fix or replace it.

have you tried reinstalling the OS? you'll need a HDD to back everything up to do a full delete but whilst it sounds like a hardware problem is could possibly be power management software... apple discussions is a good shout, from the symptoms someone should be able to tell you whats fried. I had the logic board go on my mac mini and it started doing all sorts of weird things!

if you live near enough to an apple store or certified tech they should do repairs for free, instead of having to ship it back to apple.
