Nothing like relying on a forum to give you medical advice.

So sometimes when I drink, it will be after about 2-4 drinks and within liek the first hour or 2, my face and parts of my body will go verrry red. My chest will go red and my face will, and even my hands a little bit. By mid way through the night at like 11 its completly gone though and Im back to normal. It just looks like a bad sun burn basically. So wtf?

i've never seen or heard of that before. i'd just go to a doctor. when you find out why that happens post it. i'm interested. sorry i can't help you.

Asians get red faced when drinking, its a known phenomenon. I dunno, I just call it having a good time dude.

haha no im 100% white. Its not all the time though. I'd say like 25% of the times I drink. Or like 1 in 3 times. It doesnt hurt or anything...just everyone is like holy shit what happened.

that happens to me when only when i drink captains. one time i went to a school dance alll fuckered up and i was all red, like a sunburn. i wouldnt worry about it

It could be Rosacea. i dunno.

it could also be alcohol flush reaction but you're not asian so its less likely, but is still plausible. alcohol flush is when your body can't break down alcohol completely. its cause an enzyme in your body isnt working as efficiently as it should.

I'm not sure how Rosacea works, or even the symptoms, but I know a bit about alcohol flush reaction as I'm asian... :/ They're one way to change alcohol flush reaction. in your body, ethanol is broken into acetaldehyde, and then to acetic acid. the enzyme which breaks acetaldehyde into acetic acid doesnt work very well. basicaly, i drank alcohol in moderation pretty damn often. it forced the enzyme to work more effficiently and now i'm fine..

Although, you may have Rosacea, which is more common in caucasions. Do you have burning/stinging sensations when you go red?

^prop genital warts

Keep a record of WHAT you drink. Its prob not alcohal itsself, but some additive that gives you a mild reaction

dude, it's called Asian Glow. i get it really bad sometimes, it's because alcohol dilates your blood vessels so you turn pink as well as thinning your blood (also why you bleed harder if you've been drinking). it's nothing to worry about...

Nope, feel fine, just look weird.

^ and ya maybe thats it.

Alright I think NS just saved me a trip to the doctors, I think I'll be fine.

go to the doctor and he'll probably want to see it so its an excuse to crunk at your doctors office, i've always wanted to do that

alcohol thins your blood. So what you are seeing is most likely your blood vessels dilating to accommodate the thinner blood.

my mom has the exact same thing. Happens totally periodically when she drinks, and it only lasts for a bit. No pain, nothing. Shes been to the doctor, there is nothing to give you for it, the only thing that could help is a cool cloth, and man if you bring a cold cloth next jam i see you at on your face i am going to rofl.

Rosacea is caused by nitrates, not beer. The alcohol is probably effecting your heart rate and vasodilation, so you get flushed.

"Triggers that cause episodes of flushing and blushing play a part in

the development of rosacea. Exposure to temperature extremes can cause

the face to become flushed as well as strenuous exercise, heat from

sunlight, severe sunburn,

stress, anxiety, cold wind, moving to a warm or hot environment from a

cold one such as heated shops and offices during the winter. There are

also some foods and drinks that can trigger flushing, these include alcohol, foods and beverages containing caffeine (especially, hot tea and coffee), foods high in histamines and spicy food, as well as fruits containing high levels of antioxidants, such as red grapes."

Rosacea is not caused by alcohol, but alcohol can make things worse and trigger certain reactions and flushing.

I'm lazy and don't feel like reading the whole thread, but are you on any meds? When I was on accutane my face would get really red when I drank. But now that I'm off it's all good.

I HATED that shit. It sucked. I got the side effects so bad. But id still do it again. Shit worked.

But to the thread guy. Ya it's fine (I think). It happens to me too, sort of. Sometimes when I drink I get a rash type thing on my face. I can kind of feel it be a little hot and stingy, but its fine. It goes away after a while. I did accutane like a year ago and it's probably realted to that somehow. Everything relates back to the tane.
