Maybe shorter skis like 160's will be the future for urban?

yeah i have urban trips, and they are short, like up to my nose. when i first got them the edges were way overtuned and i was pissed cuz it was a rail specific ski, but now theyre really smooth. the inner edge sort of slows down the edge fucking up process

sometimes i get the sense that the entire newschool movement is fueled by separating yourselves from snowblading. This is one of those times. Only a fuckin retard would hit an urban rail with 180 cm skis. Yes, even if your pro and have done that I think your fuckin stupid. You sit on your computers and whine about how skiing is behind other sports (which prob isn't true). Yet, when someone makes a legimately good suggestion everyone turns them down. I don't take my 163 powder board on street rails and neither should you take your 180 all mtn skis to the streets.

i do most of my slides not underfoot, and past the toe or tail. but this thread has made me realize that you guys are right and the only person that would need good edge there is me

and i dont even buy skis.

and if you beg to differ i win :)

I used 161for urban instead of the 171 i rode for park when I was filming qith level 1 for lss.

161 are like nose high for me. I wouldnt say it helps that much butthe couple cm you save on tips and tails makes it easier to spin onto a rail without going rib first.

For those who said bigger skis = more style well you may be surprise to know the size some of your idols are using on urban rails. It all depends on how tall you are and how small teh skis are. my 161 looks just as big on me as a pair of 181 would look on liam downey.

you surely dont want somethign ridiculessly short since your gonna have an hard time laning anything once you hit the ground after the rail if you do a spin that makes you land foward.

And as far as bigger skisfor bigger rails, teh only thing Icould seewould be added weight on both ends of the skis for more stability but I doubt it will make a difference.

Anyway do wahtever flaot your boat but yea I believe that a ski used stricktly for urban should be a littlebit shorter then a park ski.

this is my point. you need to move into the present and use gear that fits what you are hitting and not height. what the fuck does height have to do with it? in reality, weight is more important anyways. just cause your taller doesn't mean that those stairs are any softer when you catch your tips.
