today i watched my buddies bluehouse mavens straight slide all the way down a mountain and tag a tree. when he hiked down he found 4 inch thick branches broken, but the boards were unharmed...

Not to rain on your parade, but that doesn't say anything. The actual force they were hitting a tree with, due to the lack of weight/mass behind it, it about the same as hitting a tree with them on going like 3 mph...
