Maude Raymond's perspective on woman's contests

This is the biggest issue which is not apparent in ski racing and gymnastics, the sports that are most similar to the motions in freeskiing which negates the physical argument.

irrelevant. Ski racing is a very very different sport. One of which the predictions for Lindsay Vonn had her around 40th place based on average speed in competing against the men (for the record others were saying should could get into the top 20) and let's recall... she's 5'10 and 165lbs... not exactly average. Also there are scores more woman racers than there are women in the park.

As far as gymnastics goes, those girls start at age 2 and even still, the men are able to complete more rotations on floor than the women. Same goes for aerials.. Men are expected to do quintuple spins an females are expected to do triples.

lindsey vonn doesn't win every race contrary to the US media's belief. much smaller girls like mancuso are at that level. the point is that the gap in skill level is extremely small in comparison to women's freesking and snowboarding.

This isn't scientific proof. It is a few theories that you've grabbed from magazines to prove your own theory. One study isn't scientific proof. To say that men are more fit for freestyle skiing completely buys into the worst of 14 year olds on newschoolers who have nothing better to do than hate on girls because, well, girls don't like them. In most sports, females aren't competing against men so we need to cheer for the female freeskiers rather than hating on them because we need female heroes. We need to demand more consistent judging for them so that the females who are not spinning like figure skaters (arms tucked into their chest) or flipping like aerialists are rewarded. Female freeskiers need to get into the gym year-round so they have stronger/bigger thighs, butts, shoulders, core muscles. Nothing is a guarantee against injuries but too many of the females just aren't strong enough but they could be. Female freeskiers need to stop hucking that one big trick to get attention but rather train so they can bring bigger tricks into competition and filming.

ski racing is a good showing of this. A lot of those ladies are really good, aggressive skiers and their lower body is solid. Sure, it's not with the usual image of "attractive" but damn can they ski!

Couldn't resist making this after this thread and where the maude thread is going. I know this actually is really mean but i'm just posting it to be funny. I do actually follow/have crush on anais and really hopes she mans the fuck up and beasts some comps. Skier+French+girl+cute=I couldn't resist.

No shit, there isn't a scientific formula to how women react to progressing in action sports. There are many different facets to this issue that vary from female to female.
