Matting Question

For my basic photog class we have to present a final, matted series of 8 shots, and I'm in a bit of a dilemma on how to matte them.

I like the full shots of putting the binding on/tying in more than the strips, but I think as a micro-series, the strip works much stronger. Not a fan that you can barely tell what's going on in the shot where he's tying in.

Opinions?

i don't know anything about matting, but to me, the first matte in option 1 is better, but the second matte is better for option 2

^agreed with "seeing what the ski boot is"... but can you make the second one black instead of white? i think the contrast that you get with a black matt will help out

The White Map diptich is the more traditional way to go. 99% of any everything I mat is on white foam core. It has a classier look and doesn't distract from the image.

I could, but I just bought all white matte.

Guess that answers my question!

Going with all white, full shot of each.

99% of the time a white mat looks exponentially better than a black one (don't even get started on colored ones). Make sure your top and side borders match, and the bottom is weighted.
