Has Matt Margretts inspired others to do the same as he did? It seems that others have followed in Matt's path. Walter Wood is now doing a campaign to raise $5000 so that he can be competing in Sochi. Thoughts?

Walter is a professional skier who has been working his way to the 2014 olympics and needs your support!

From humble beginnings as a determined young athlete with dreams to win gold since he was a child, Walter has also worked hard. Graduating a year early from high school he's been on a focused path to reach his goals since a young age. Competeing in his first X-Games at the age of 16 and first World Cup at the age of 15 he was also one of the first athletes to perform and successfully land a 1620 in the halfpipe and win the 2011 World Skiing Invitational. His unique style in his tricks and devotion to the sport makes him one of the top halfpipe skiers in the world.

Between summertime jobs, college and constant hard work, Walters daily determination is undeniable and help from his parents and sponsors have been monumental assests to his skiing career thus far but all of that can only do so much.

You're a fucking idiot OP. Athletes in all different sports have fundraisers to help them get to where they want to go, why would skiing be any different?

The only sad part I see here is that 2 really good pipe skiers aren't getting enough funding from their respective governments to possibly win a medal for their country.

He's a hardcore pipe jock, spins to win like a motherfucker, but only on axis from what I've seen he barely corks and doesn't double. He does a pencilled out 16 that's his only real claim to fame.

Oh, and tanner called his ass out and caused quite a riot at some point last year, that was funny.
 
is the US ski team not throwing stupid amounts of money at everyone on the team for training, the center for excellence, etc? right, thought so...
 
Yeah when I read this thread I kept seeing, "Walter White." Was having a tough time making a connection between Matt Margetts and Breaking Bad. Now that I realize it's WOOD, Walter WOOD... I couldn't give two shits.

Hahahahaha, I'd rather take my chances with a Nigerian prince that needs my bank account information to transfer $20 million. At least with the Nigerian there's a greater chance for anything to happen.

pathetic or not, Margetts was handed a shitload of money just because he asked for it. Why on earth wouldn't you try it...

Jaron Stadler Is trying to become a professional skier and Really needs your help! He is trying to work his way up to be able to afford to go on the Road to Minnesota

We are trying to raise a whole 300$ so he can purchase his first ever plane ticket to MINNESOTA, and we need YOUR support so HE can live his dream.

He grew up in a trailer and worked hard so he could drop out of school a year early in order to move out from new mexico and ski. He is the first skier to be able to be completely black out and ski Keystones big line successfully. His blooded out clothing and dirty style has made him one of the least talked about skiers in the industry.

Between working at la quinta all year, drinking copious amounts of alcohol daily, and smoking enough pot to put most people in comas he still somehow finds time to ski.
