Math...What is it???

yes it is. And I don't know how you could say that pi isnt 3.14... because every equation that has ever used pi has been correct.

PI is a very simple number used to describe the shape characteristics of a circle. It is not a magic number that is up for debate. Therefore saying that "What if PI is actually not PI" is an argument a stoner would make.

There are other numbers in math that are constants and are used to describe the environment. e, Avogadro's number, acceleration due to gravity, etc. This is what gives basics number math application in the world.

The manupliation of this data usually in the form of proofs is what gives math its power.

Basically math is a way for humans to quantify, explain, and visualize the mechanisms in their world.

Math is crazy. Humans may have built the symbology of math, but math itself is not a human creation, it a fact of the universe. It is a human way of representing, analyzing, and communicating the basic properties of the universe.

um no pi is not 22/7. pi is a transcendental number, this can be proven. i doubt you even know what that means, but i can assure you i know alot more about mathematics than you.

there are several ways to approximate pi, for example using a taylor series

pi is not 22/7, 22/7 just happens to be the same as pi to a few digits. it's not even an approximation, just a coincidence.

I always thought it was.

Shit I guess I don't know as much about math as I should.

I have taken 4 years of engineering so whoever said they know more math than me might be right. I am not a math major though so I just know how to apply it not where it comes from.

How do you prove pi with a taylor series?

a taylor series just approximates it to a certain degree. though if you took your taylor series to infinitely many terms, you'd keep getting closer to pi's "real" value
