8 - 6 = 9^4x + 2

2 = 9^4x + 2

0 = 9^4x

What is the equation?

I see that you put 8^x-6 = 9^5x+2 but that could be a multitude of things.

Use grouping symbols for what the numbers are actually raised to because as it is I can't tell what the actual equation is. It could be (8^x)-6 or (8^x-6) and it could also be (9^5)x-2, (9^5x)-2 and also (9^5x-2). Depending on which one it is, will really determine what your solution is. I solved for what I thought it was and got no real solutions but it is possible I solved for the wrong equation.

are the exponents x-6 and 5x +2,

or x and 5x are exponents, the rest are normal coefficients?
