I realy would like to know what you guys think about this.

After re editing two versions and starting a bran new one, here is the final product! I have the intention of applying for telivision jobs or anything else video related that can give me full time. I am interested to know weather or not this is strong enough, if not, what can be improved?

Really digged this. I'm just getting into filming and what not so I can't offer you a legitimate thing to fix, but it was definitely good. It had a good feeling to it and definitely shows you're capable of all areas of filming and editing. Props!
 
damm, only a few hours after posting up my reel, I already got an email for a little contract!
 
did I use a song you took? I didnt plan it out that way, I looked for a song for about an hour strictly on youtube, surfing from band to band. no demo reels.

If you did use the song, so what? are we sending it to the same clients? No.
 
downtofilm used it in his cinematography reel as well.

i never really saw the huge deal in reusing songs either. Do I do it? no... but its not a huge ass deal if you do IMO
 
For this demo reel, its not as big of a deal, but one big problem with reusing a song that was in something decently popular/in a movie is ALL i can think about is the edit/video it was in first. For example, with this video, all i could think about was dtfs edit...
 
Alright so like i said, i looked at several songs without using previous reels, its a coincidence that we picked the same song. That has been covered, now can i get some feedback on something actualy important?

Seriously media and arts has become like nsg these days, i got more critics and opinions from illiterate people on facebook.

Its alright to mention the song but at least offer up one other cunstructive point or an opinion!
 
I liked the concert songs... But the colors for the ski shots bothered me. Also, on that urban rail where you "ramped" slow motion, it was done at an awkward part IMO
 
this one is much better, the song works great. but the slo mo on the urban switch up stood out to me as well.
 
Most things were on point, the only things I didn't like we're the ski shots, they all had different colors and some were over exposed. Flowed pretty well tho, good job.

I thought the first half of the reel was the strongest part, but that isn't to say that I didn't enjoy the second half. But the shots of that person in the mask went so well with the song, it was awesome.

To be honest I've never been a big fan of the framing on the urban shot at 1:00, and I was a little unsure about the colors on those ski shots that followed.

And as for the song, people need to chill. I bet like 90% of your intended audience for this reel will have never seen Zac's reel since it seems like you'll be using this more for work outside the skiing industry.
 
I think this is true and for being his reel its nbd, but to people like me (which in this situation it doesnt matter) its just hard to push out previous images from the same song ya know?
 
I guess so. I can honestly say that I didn't think of Zac's reel once while I was watching this one until I saw a comment about it. and I've watched zac's multiple times.
 
To each their own, but I always have a really strong connection with songs and skiing in my head so when I get one song pair with skiing, its hard to hear it with anything else without seeing the skiing. Guess its just me.
 
Kind of going along with what Will covered, I think your concert / non-skiing footage is the strongest within the reel. The first shot of skiing with the "demo reel" title seems very unrelated to the other shots around it. For the first half of the reel, I kept wondering why there was one random shot of skiing, until the skiing followed later. I would have liked to see the skiing all within one section and put a more concert/narrative oriented shot with the title.
 
I'm surprised anybody cares about the song at all. If anything, the logo makes me think of Everyday is a Saturday. But I wouldn't count it against him. Same for the song. Who cares?
 
So I actualy took what a lot of you guys said into consideration and did a little recut, Only a few things were changed but it improved it a lot in my opinion.

the middle of my reel lacked a bit of timing so that has been corrected by moving clips a bit and cutting needless parts. The color on the overblown shots have been corrected as much as possible but the whites were lost like I said. However it still looks less blown out. I also made the final part a bit less dull for my contact info by adding a timelapse. very simple but effective.

What was mentioned but not changed: the song, I couldnt care less about this part.

I also didnt take out the ski shot with the text at the begining. I considered it a lot but then decided to keep it since the first 30 seconds are very deciding and I need to show variety. also as skiers we are eager to see more skiing when teased with it so a bit of that feeling spawns from that.

If you guys want to see it, il upload it shortly when my upload limit goes back up!
