Who's pumped?

Goosebumps, they were had. SO glad I managed to pre-order the Collector's Edition back in like November.

yeah and apparently they are taking over 1000 factors from your mass effect 2 save game into account for mass effect 3! STOKED

OMFG. I have 4 total run throughs of Mass Effect 1 and 2 saved up to take through ME3. Hope some decisions I made in ME1 come back at some point too.

BioWare... taking my social life away a piece at a time.

A litle stoked on this actually. Wouldn´t have known about this game if I hadn´t won a copy of Mass Effect 2 last year and it´s kind of sweet

please tell me you played the first one, then the second, then plan on playing the third. in that order. not backwardz...

Yeah so it turns out they completely boned the character importer in re: faces. My ME2 shep, when brought into ME3, looks completely different. This is partly a result of the importer simply not working (how could no one have NOTICED this before release) and partly a result in a significant change in how the game "looks" overall compared to the last one. Someone else whining about this complained that it's sort of like watching Last Crusade except instead of Harrison Ford they've got Bruce Willis playing Indy with Harrison Ford's voice dubbed in.

I never got super detailed with my faces when I used a custom one so my Shep was pretty easy to make in all honesty though it's still annoying as shit.

Yeah it's just irksome. I got in about 2 hours and I think I'm going to abandon my game and try harder to make it as close as possible. The thing is, they have changed the shading a ton but they have also actually REMOVED a bunch of assets (facial features, hairstyles, eye shapes) etc. that were present in the first two games. Which, if you used those assets, makes it completely impossible to make a Shep that will closely resemble the one you've already played with for 100 hours or whatever. Which is really pretty inexcusable for a game franchise whose central selling point was that it had ridiculous levels of decision-making continuity.

I read a thread on the Bioware forums (still going very strong) where a majority of the posters are just losing their minds about this. Like, half of them have taken to putting "I AM NOT PLAYING UNTIL I GET MY SHEPARD BACK" in their signatures. As if Bioware or EA or anyone care if you take your ball and go home; you bought the game already.

It speaks to how big an oversight this is (and how predictable the outrage from the core consumer base was) but also to how revolutionary the game franchise is. People are really, really invested in the characters and their personalized experience with the game. Given that I like that about ME I hope this trends towards a bunch of clones being made.

I'm agreeing with JD... this scares me.

I already know I have to go back to ME2 and finish up 2 playthroughs and makes sure my two main story completed playthroughs have the DLC done. I got to the point where I JUST left the Citadel in ME3 and realize that all the mentions of the Shadow Broker DLC and Arival makes me realize that I never played either with my character I took to ME3. BACK TO ME2 for now.

This game is frieken awesome, there have been so many things that have come up from the first two games that have drastically changed the results of the third. A ton of shit with the genophage has made tough choices for me because of previous decisions.

Haha I actually got that advise when I won it so I bought the first one real cheap and played it first. But I probably won´t play this one, I get so incredibly bored when I play games.

So I just finished this. The game is excellent. Just awesome overall. Couple of choices made in storytelling that I would've changed, and one potential chapter they left out that I absolutely would have wanted included (could be DLC). But depending on how you play it there are several just fantastic moments, and two in particular that for me rank among the best in the history of video games as far as I know them.

That being said: the ending is TERRIBLE. Just abysmal. I had heard complaints but didn't want to spoil it so didn't look into them and just went ahead and saw for myself. And the complaints were right. It's a video game, I could deal with some aspects of the ending being a little nonsensical or a bad storytelling device or something. But there is so MUCH wrong with it and so little right that it's just deflating. I don't want to go so far as to say it ruined an otherwise good game / series, but it certainly detracts from the whole thing a ton.

I wonder if they'll respond to the calls for DLC to re-jig it - there is an opening. Give 2 days, a word processor and the voice cast and I could produce a better ending myself.

There's just too many plot holes in the ending and absolutely no closure. All the choices you make don't even matter in the ending, its just a matter of what color you want to see.

That being said, they announced that they are adding DLC for the ending already.

Just finished this game the other night. I had heard the ending was widely disliked but also didn't want to spoil it for myself. Based on the fantastic storytelling/gameplay present throughout 99.9% of game I simply couldn't believe that BioWare could do anything wrong.

HOLY SHIT was I ever mistaken. The ending is beyond dreadful. A pure slap in the face to everyone who has invested hours into these games over the past 5 years. Then they have the nerve to add a message after the end that says: 'You're a legend! Buy our future DLC releases to add to that legend!'. Which, if you've seen the ending, you'll know is just about the most retarded thing ever...

I invested 40+ hours each one of these games because I'm a huge fan Sci-Fi fan and they're truly awesome experiences... and to have it capped off like this left me numb (and actually a little scarred). I can't understand how a developer that has done almost everything right managed to approve an ending SO terrible.

They have confirmed they'll be 'fixing' the ending. Looking forward to the shitstorm when they try to get their customers to pay for it...
