Mask setups

Not sure if this thread is already out there but I couldn't find it. What is everybody's mask setup this year? Anybody wearing sunglasses instead of goggles since we have to have noses covered?

I have been wearing sunglasses for years unless its super snowy.

Even then the mask fog is too much but its just in the lift queue so w/e.

It wasn’t until this year when I realized how foggy my goggles get when my mask covers my nose. The best options seem to funnel air from my mouth and nose down towards my neck, rather than up into my eyes and goggles. Here’s what I’ve found works best:

1. Regular Covid cloth facemask. If it’s warm outside, this covers my nose without fogging up my goggles. Never seems to fog up for me.

2. Balaclava. I just got a balaclava from Blackstrap and that seems to be the next best thing for colder snowy days. Haven’t had any issues with fog, but it makes me overheat unless it’s really cold out.

3. Tube. I can’t for the life of me get these to cover my nose without fogging up my goggles in the lift line. Maybe I got a weird nose. Maybe I’m an idiot. Maybe both. Either way, tubes aren’t working for me

Just get urself a MIRA Safety CM-6M Tactical Gas Mask and problem solved.

Goggles and mask DOWN when I ski. Goggles and mask UP when I get near the lift line. Goggles are never on with mask so I don't get foggy

My current local mountain sucks at social distancing (snowbowl AZ) so I've been doing a KN95 under a baclava. If it's windy i'll leave them both on, otherwise I drop them until I get to the lift line.

Mask wearing in lines is maybe 70 percent at best, and people try to cram on to lifts with you. It's wild. Luckily the lifties are backing you up when you say "single lift" or "just us three." So many people just don't care and take their mask off while riding up with strangers.

I'm lucky I have flexible hours and have been able to stack weekdays this year.

Has anyone had any luck with anti-fog spray? Something like this? I don't want anything on the inside of my goggles, but it might be worth a shot on cheap sunglasses

medical mask + sunnies ive never had them fog up

That's gotta be so uncomfortable. I saw a few people with medical mask setup and it looked miserable.

The kn95 and other metal nose ones can be after a few hours with goggles on. Sunglasses are def easier.

Another solution is a double layer cloth mask with pre cut medical grade filters slipped in between the layers. I use that most of the time off the mountain. It's better than nothing by a long shot. Baclava/gaiters/buffs are pretty shit on their own. Source:https://advances.sciencemag.org/content/6/36/eabd3083.full

Tbh its actually really comfy and i forget im wearing it most of the time, copped a 50 pack of em at costco. As long as you pinch the nose u still have unobstructed vision and gogs/sunnies dont fog
