Martock

Alrighty i just moved from calgary to acadia university so martocks gonna be my hill this winter i guess. Anybody who goes there, whats the park like? i have pretty low expectations for everything else but if they have some decent shit then i can survive.

also if anybody goes to Acadia or Dalhousie and uses ADC++ i have some ski movies up

Hey man, its funny I'm doing the exact opposite of you this year, moving from Nova Scotia to Banff in about a month.

Martock if anything is consistently open, but that doesnt mean the park will be amazing. They should have a sick pipe this year due to a new cutter, they have high hopes for the park and have lots of new events planned. However the park always comes up a bit short compared to WW, but its certainly decent. Coming from COP though, dont expect much from the park at all.

I live right between Martock and Acadia, its about 15 mins to either one. So it will at least be a short drive to go skiing. There aren't a lot of freeskiers around the Valley or Windsor though, its quite lonely.

Pipe is good when maintained....don't expect things in the park to get started early, mid-late January maybe...it's fun when it all gets set up...Wentworth gets it going around the same time, no pipe but better / bigger features along with some decent comps...and lots of drinking...

Dude, the parks are fucking horrible. Martock is about 2-3 times as high as COP only without a top to bottom park. Acadia is a fun time though.

Everybody here is mostly right. The park takes a while to develop, and sadly the Hill doesn't put high priority on the park. The hill lacks a lot of solid snowboarding and skiing talent, and so the "jib park" ends up being smaller features that can be a ton of a fun. The upper park, while limited, was great last year and never touched. Solid jumps and a DFD that couldn't have been better. The problem is with the way the hill faces, the sun never hits the landing of the jump until late afternoon, so you have to be there at the right time to get some really good hits in. The hill builds the jumps pretty solid now, for the first time in a while, but it's a wait for the hill to get to anything that big.

I know it doesn't sound too good with what you've heard, but the people at the hill are great, and if you know what you're dealing with you can have a ton of fun there. It's full of down to earth people, everybody being blue-collar. People like myself are at least trying their best to keep features maintained, and fresh, but it can be an uphill battle. Hopefully I can plug a few good ideas in next year, and be there to build more features.

It's no COP, not even close, but it has a solid pipe (not a superpipe) and some good things to play around on. I've had great days there, just dicking around with friends. Just realize that it's no COP, and make the best of it.

definetly, the best day i had all year last year was when i went up the in late march during the week and had the hill to myself. the ski partol got the whole park groomed for me and left the ropes up so i basically had it to myself. Some of the stuff was set up so it was super fun, and the dfd was gnarly.

jordon, the big features were untouched because they were always closed (at least when I was there...)

overall martock is fun for sure.

shaun, the best day you had was when you tripped on zoomers at dusk, shit that was nutts.

anyway dude, martock is in the right direction for sure. if it is good weather, cold, expect fun from christmas till end of march, nothin big, no kicky booters just silly maritime fun. if you like to ski under the influence (sui) your in luck.

never been there, but the Park Manager there I'm pretty sure is Llyle, who also does the park at Brookvale on PEI. He does a pretty good job there, with not much hill, snow or jibs to work with. and he tries to keep everything in good shape as much as he can.

I live right in wolfville, not to far away from the campus and i go to the local highschool. Theres a couple of us that go most days of the week and weekends, everyone here has pretty much covered it. Shoot me an email or msn message if your looking for rides...
