Marseilles France

A few weeks ago I went to Marseilles with my dad and his girlfriend and I met up with a friend of mine who lives in the city. As we were heading through the subway there were these kids smoking hash right there in front of everyone. I didn't think anything of it and just thought "damn I wish I had some good hash right now." I didn't feel in danger or anything. We got off at the stop and walked to a restaurant.

Just today we had this conversation where my dads girlfriend didn't feel safe in Marseilles. And she used the hash example in the subway and explained how it made her feel unsafe. Is she implying that hash is dangerous? Because she sounded stern about it. I smoke, and I am not sure whether she knows. However I don't want to be perceived as being dangerous. The comment irritated me a little, because she was profiling them as being dangerous solely on the reason of smoking hash publicly.

You're gonna have to take it from her. I had it ready and was on my way to deliver and then she took it.

I had a feeling this was going to be a shitty marijuana related thread after your last one. I was right.

Prolly cause if they can smoke in the open without arrest then the authorities are pretty relaxed? Why not ask her?

P.S always wanted to go to Marseilles but everyone says its a shit hole, is, this, true, OP?

Marsielle is a neat place and notre dame la garde was probably the best thing Marsielle has, along with a few other things that are pretty interesting to go to. The Mediterranean sea is also right there. Its a place to go but I wouldn't stay there for more than a few days.

That being said, my dads girlfriend dislikes the place, but her sister who speaks french and spends lots of time in france likes it. I wouldn't plan on staying there for a whole vacation or something, go there for a day or two. .

Marseille is a nice city, but it has indeed a bad reputation. I wouldn't go there for my vacation though, not because of its reputation but because there are much nicer cities/places in southern France in my opinion.

The reputation comes from the fact that it has a lot of immigration from Africa and the city is basically a big project with some real bad neighborhoods. Plus the corruption scandals have been pilling over the years and Marseille is indeed considered a shit hole by some of the French. And it might be one of the most unsafe cities in France, I'd need to look up some statistics, but it wouldn't surprise me one bit.

don't worry, once weed becomes legal it won't be nearly as cool, the same way getting shitfaced all the time becomes much less cool after your turn 21

There are a lot of people that get shit faced at sports events and are over 21, my friends parents have parties where adults get sloshed. I have to work at a stadium and deal with obnoxious drunk people and tell them to knock their dumb shit off, or kick them out of the stadium. Alcohol makes dumb adults act like children when they throw their half empty beers and shit of the deck above onto people below. Marijuana never makes people act like that. I don't even smoke much anymore, and drink on occasion. Weeds legal and will become legal, and the use is going to increase among adults.

I doubt it.

Over here in the Netherlands it's legal, (not actually legal but explaining everything is terribly complicated so for the sake of not writing a long reply consider it legal) and cannabis use is way less then in say for example the U.S.A..

yeah but i doubt many of them go around after talking about how fucking cool they are for getting blackout and throwing up in a garbage fan at a football game or in the garden at a house party.

The thing is in the Netherlands marijuana isn't fully legal. There aren't multi billion dollar business heads investing in the cultivation cannabis. The us is in prohibition and federal laws place marijuana as a worse drug than, fentyl, meth, and coke. Some states have laws that will lock you up for 6 months if you are caught in the possession of a single joint. Over the passed decade vas majorities of people have grown in favor of legalization. There will be adds for marijuana on TV, and the states that legalized cannabis want to make money from taxes. Adults will have safer access and easier ways to get cannabis without worrying about the law. Right now its much easier for teens to get a hold of marijuana than most adults, I buy weed for my friends dad and he has been smoking for a while.

Its actually up to a year in Kansas and the fucked thing is most of time african americans get profiled and are the ones paying the prices for these harsh drug laws.

"Kansas has perhaps the most draconian marijuana laws in the country. Possession of any amount of marijuana — even a single gram — can land Kansans in prison for up to a year, as well as a $1,000 fine. If they're caught with marijuana again, they could be convicted of a felony and face up to three and a half years in prison and a $100,000 fine."
