Marker griffon vs pivots

Griffins blow but can be cheap and p good if you're lightweight. Pivots are so much better but obviously $$$ and you can barely adjust their length without remounting thenm

What do you mean by griffons blow

They literally blow out. Ive had the heel piece blow out three times now. All with proper din and forward pressure. The torque and forces associated w freeskiing is just too much for them. Then Marker's customer service takes months...

Blow out as in heel piece cracking, base plate cracking, screws shearing, screws pulling out. Never had an issue with anything like this on Pivots, only the classic bent brakes problem.

that's like comparing school lunch to eating sushi off a supermodel.

So would you say it’s worth it to pay the extra 100 bucks to get pivots instead of griffons or maybe go to tyrolia attacks?

If you're on a budget find attacks or solomon sth2's over griffons any day. Attacks and sth2's are great bindings markers not so much. Pivots are great if you have the guap but griffons aren't worth buying period imo.

Yes theyre worth it if you can afford them or find a good deal. I agree with @BiffBarf the Attacks and STHs seem good. Im probably getting some STHs soon.

Here's my list:

1.Pivot

2.STH16(Better for a pow ski)

3.Attack 14/17

griffons really do suck. i often felt like they didn’t click in well and i felt like i could actually feel the difference in stack height

The jesters are far better than the griffons. Not sure why anybody getting a marker binding would go with the griffons

Only binding I ever broke was a pivot.

Nuff said.

Also only binding I ever ripped out was a pivot as well

Not really a big enough sample size to definitively say they are bad

I’ve been on my pair of griffons for a couple of seasons skiing park and piste with no major issues so far. The little silver sticker popped off on the left toe piece, but that’s probably due to the cold making the adhesive less sticky. Pivots are dope if you can afford them, but you don’t need them. I can see how it would be frustrating to break the heel piece, but mine have no play at all at the hinge. As for the brakes, I have smashed a few and that is to be expected with park skiing in general. I’d say that if my griffons have outlasted 2 pairs of park skis that they are worthy of consideration.

I have broken the half moon on three sets of pivots, but that was prior to the recall in 2017ish. They are pretty rock solid now.

I have also broken those rings 3-4 times... That being said, it was only after 3+ seasons of ice and abuse though so I don't fault the bindings.

I agree. With that. Just kind of going with the flow of knee jerk opinions here on NS

Really. Bindings have always been the least of my concerns. Boots, planks and then bindings

I've broken a lot of bindings over the years and pulled out of a number of skis. IMHO, Pivots and Tyrolias are the only realistic options for park skiers. I now only ride Tyrolias because of their easily replaceable brakes, ez stepin and the fact that I have never broken a pair. I wear through the plastic in the heelpiece and have to get new ones before anything breaks (we're talking like 4 seasons of skiing icy parks for this to happen). I think pivots are also great bindings, but I hate stepping in and out of them all the time with my hands full of camera gear and shit. I think Tyrolias suffer from the least amount of issues that many other bindings suffer from and they also support a bunch of really sick riders which is an added boner(bonus)! I've seen a LOT of pairs of markers blow up/pull out and I would be hard pressed to recommend them to the homies. I also hear Atomic bindings are pretty dope, but outside of my wife getting some Ward 11's, I don't have experience with them.

I guess when I get a new set of skis soon I'll try something else.
