Hey, so i was wondering anybody's thoughts on those two bindings. I have heard some good things about the squires on my home mountain, but some AWFUL stuff on Newschoolers. Also I have heard NOTHING on the Marker free tens.. So i was wondering if anybody has ever ridden the free tens and the main differences between the two

Thanks guys, I bump

i wouldn't get either unless you really don't weight that much.

the free ten is pretty much just a worse version of the squire.

i would check out look or head/tyrolia bindings. or at least upgrade to the griffon.

yeah, i weigh about 115 lbs. I just heard that the squire is impossible to clip into. how is the free ten in that aspectt?

i'm too heavy for either binding so i've never ridden them.

the squire and free ten has the same toe piece and different heel pieces. the squire is slightly better.

i haven't had very good experiences with marker. i've been riding on tyrolia peak 15/head mojo 15's for 4 or 5 years now, but the last binding that i had before that were marker comp 14s and i hated them. had tons of problems with pre-releasing.

yeah i got a pair of squires pretty much free when i bought my skis, when you clip in they like snap in and it sounds and feels really cheap and weak, plus sometimes they dont clip in all they way

^This, there are quite few higher quality low din bindings out there. The Griffon features a better toe (triple pivot elite) and heel piece (Inter Pivot) than the squire and the free-ten. However I personally wouldn't recommend marker I have had quite a few problem with the heel piece sliding back on the rail causing me to prerelease. If I were you I would look at Rossignol Axial2 120/Look PX12 and the Salomon STH12 Driver (steer clear of the Oversize STH12, driver toe is the one you want). Check the Blog quoted in my sig for a reveiw of the Rossignol Axial2 120.

if you weigh only 115lbs then the Squire will be just fine for you.

the free ten is basically a kids binding and i wouldn't recomend it to anyone skiing park.

the issue with the Squires being a pain in the ass to step into has been corrected by marker. it only really affected people with a rubber heel on their boots but like i said, the problem has been corrected by marker.

you're in the correct binding range, out of the two i'd recommend the squire, most of it's bad reputation comes from people who've heard that a friend of a friend on NS once broke his squires ...

i skied them for a few runs and a personal friend of mine rode em on his hellbents for all of last season and he was very happy about em

i also have a pair of jesters and they are wonderful, no complaints really at all, when you clip into them its very smooth and doesnt snap as much but seems to lock in much better and cleaner, just trying to say marker does make some good bindings

I can't say anything about the squires, but STAY AWAY from the free series. good god are they terrible bindings. landing switch with any forward lean = instant double eject, no matter how high the din

thanks everyone. So a few people say stay away from from the squires. but if i do go with the free tens or the squires. go with the squires; Thanks guys
