Marker Comp 30?

I Saw a pair of Marker comp bindings today. Nothing unusual, see they almost every day. I always look at the DIN settings, most are comp 14, or 18. No big. But today I look an saw some that were Comp 30? WTF?. Why would you ever need that much bindings? Just thought it was insane an like to share.

if all your leg and hip joints are welded together and your bones are titanium i guess that would work...

It kind of shows how bad markers design is. While other bindings like fks 185's or s920's will hold you in, markers have so little elasticity that you have to run them at 30 to hold you in. ^^^ And that's just ridiculous. A 40 DIN binding?

yea racing requires a really high din because when you lose your ski you're automatically DQ'd. if you can keep your ski on you can hike a gate when you fall and that way your team still gets points overall

real racing doesnt give your team points, its only about your self, ditch your school and race fis alex

Team racing? WTF that would suck, results depending on other people. Never heard of it.

I can't believe you have to run DINs in the 20's/30's on Marker. Insane. What are the current comp bindings, same as the retail ones but metal with locked toe vertical? I guess Salomon 920 @ 20 = Marker 40 @ 40.

After I saw the video of the guys leg getting turned around 3 times, I am afraid of high DINs like that.

I remember seeing it randomly somewhere years ago. Basically, Austrian dude is on Super GS skis (if I remember correctly) and he falls. He’s on his stomach perpendicular to the slope. Skis are pointing opposite directions. Front ski gets tip caught and you see the leg fight it. Then it snaps and the leg turns to jello and stays in the same place as his upper body starts rolling.

I assume you mean Matthias Lanzinger?

Apparently if they had gotten to him sooner and more adequately prevented blood loss his leg may have been saveable (no idea if that means still usable).
