MARKER BINDINGS

yes and no.

no-bindgins are all a matter of preference and if you like them thats all that matters.

yes- track record, if a lot of freeriders dislike them it shoud mean that most freeridres do not think they make a legimate product so chances are something might happen to them.

my friend rode a pair of markers last year.....he came off a rail switch and the heel piece tore right out of the base....it stripped the worm screw and everything.....i know another kid who was doin 5s off of a 20 footer with markers and both skis released mid-air.

Well I really try to stay away from marker bindings. This is why: when i first learned to ski, i used a pair of skis mounted with old marker bindings from the ski swap. After all of one season, the *tiny* rod/spring operating the breaks came loose. Everytime they released, the rod would pop out of the foot plate, and the brakes wouldnt deploy. Extremely bad news, especially when just learning. I also learned how to run really fast with ski boots. Later, my dad tried to weld the rod back in place, but melted the bindings instead. No more markers for me. And the sad part is the same tiny post is used to connect the spring to foot plate in ALL THEIR BINDINGS. Peace!

well i like them ive been skiing on them for years and never had a single problem with them infact i just bought a new pair or marker jesters this year and am looking forward to riding with them

i hear from a lot of people that markers are not as safe as rossis and looks. and i had marker bindings for a season during 0506, and my toe piece got ripped out

yea the jester and duke might turn the company around theyve got a ton of hype and apparently are the next big thing in freestyle and freeride bindings

The hype for the Duke and Jester is ridiculous.

I just remember how hyped the Reactors were back in the day.

Marker has consistently made crappy freeride bindings for a long time, and the new ones are a completely different design. I hope they work out, because some Dukes would be a nice addition to the lineup, but I am waiting 'til next year at the earliest.

yup markers suck, technically they are ok it terms of how they are engineered to release, but they are made out of shitty plastic that breaks when it gets really cold as well as with age; more so than other companies. Their race bindings seem to be made to be a bit more durable.. But their new line designed for fat skis and to to be essentially A/T ready is def. intriguing....
