threw down today at the burton high 5 at snow park

wonder if we will see a triple on the same jump at the red bull camp over the next few days

will triples be in this years comps for skiers?

This. Also seems like a bit of a dick move by 1337, although I don't know what the comment was I literally can't imagine anything so bad that it would get your mod removed, especially seeing as it wasn't even posted on ns, it's facebook. and @OP are you talking about this? it's pretty old. sorry if not.

this has been brought up hundreds of times on here, but i really hope our sport will take another turn soon, freestyle =/= aerials

it's sick none the less, it's amazing how we start seeing triples in comps now, only a couple years ago doubles were mindblowing, now they're pretty much the standard on the pro level ....

as far as im concerned triples are fine in slope contests, why not? if you wana watch style watch level 1 movies or the education of style. contests should be about the most clean and tech runs possible.

I agree, I feel like it will just create more division between contest skiers and film skiers. But hopefully that will allow more creativity on the film side. Maybe it will allow the skiers that are more segment focused to do better for themselves because more people will like that kind of skiing more.

really well put. That's always been my outlook on the whole aerials thing. I'm a huge fan on tornado spins and triples myself. It's almost like how people doing triples are so rare that it creates a whole style in its own that's unique because you don't see them often. Kind of how B & E was 2 years ago. It was cool because nobody else was doing it, now I can't stand B&E

ever since torstein introduced the triple back in 2011, a lot of athletes are throwing it now. it doesnt surprise me since both mark and seb touts have it mastered.

Ehh, I disagree. Imagine a contest where the judges also took style into account, and someone like E-dollo could win. Would be such a sick contest. But you're right, we can always go the movies for that kind of skiing.

ya but that kind of a contest would be way to hard to judge. The closest thing to that is probobly the Sammy Carlson Invitational, which is sick , but for X games or Dew tour, its just not realistic to have a style/creativity based competition.

Style is subjective and arbitrary, unlike how tech something is. Don't look for henrik to win any slopestyle comps anyway, he's too busy smoking his brains out and giving swedish people a bad name.

E-dollo doesnt do well in contests because all he grabs is safety. He has no diversity in his runs. so even though its clean, he shows the judges that he can only do one grab which is a major -

ooo whats the mod drama? haha

but seriously, good for mcmorris that kid fuckin kills it. if skiing goes that directions so be it, the more diverse our sport the better. after watching education of style i realize that people are gonna keep branching off in different directions on all levels. hopefully everyone stays positive.

Maybe I'm missing some sarcasm here, but Henrik is absolutely a threat to win slope contests. Wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see him win, or at least podium, at a major slope or big air comp this season.

Slopestyle snowboarding is aerials.

Newschoolers moderating is TGR.

On a sidenote though, glad to see McMorris is getting somewhere since he's a small town Saskatchewan guy. Pretty much from you're hood P-Steeze!

He legit doesnt even try to win. he does stylish tricks that are much harder then the average trick thrown out (dub 10) . but a trick like a lobster flip, bio , or blunt slide will get underscored every time. If the judges actually start realizing what tricks are more difficult then others, he will have a chance..

You legit don't need to presume that I don't watch contests and/or understand what I'm seeing.

He's already podiumed at high profile events including euro X and a city big-air or two. Henrik has about as many variations of dubs as the top-tier comp guys (maybe not all 4 ways ala bob, gus, tom, andreas and russ), and as you yourself pointed out, many of his tricks are unique to the point of being exclusive and almost assuredly more technically difficult.

You will see an evolution in judging this season that will recognize the difficulty of said tricks as many tricks in his arsenal (butter dubs, lobster flips, and bio 10's/14's) have reached a level of universal appreciation. In several instances last year, Henrik was literally doing tricks people had never seen before, and in the context of a formally judged contest, that can make for a hell of a time for judges put on the spot. Henrik may or may not "try" to win, and yes, he definitely seems to use contests as a sort of "platform" to convey a message (not as much as Phil), but despite that, he still stands a better than fair chance to snatch a W or a podium this year. It's not like he's pulling a participatory boycott ala Pep and Andy, he's going out and doing some of the biggest and most tricks anyone is doing. And, no, I'm not talking about him being rewarded for vague style considerations, I'm talking being rewarded for spinning and flipping as much as anyone else albeit on unique axises.

Henrik would've podiumed at Dew #2 last year if he had gone with a grab other than safety/method/lobster on his jumps and if his landing on the dub 12 had been better and not slightly frontseat/hand-draggy and slightly over-rotated.

So, I don't know what your point was, but mine still stands: Henrik is not to be counted out of any slope contest he enters.

I think it should be noted that he didnt land it because he over shot the jump. which im assuming he did so because he needed more airtime to do the trip. which means standard slope jumps arent big enough for triples so the majority of people wont be sending them like how doubles got popular. Im sure some people will be ripping them but i really dont think slope jumps are going to be big enough for people to consistently and comfortably land triple corks. I dont know about for skiing but i bet mcmorris, toutant and a hand full of other snowboarders will be doing a triple cork in one or two slope comps this year especially if the conditions are right and they are pressured into doing it for the win.

You kidding me? I was surprised how little recognition mark mcmorris got, considering he landed it before torstein at the x games. Seemed like everyone was more focused on Torstein's perfect score.

i deleted all the off topic threads because this thread is in Skigabber and is about a completely different subject, please keep your teen drama to yourself or post it in the relevant threads, also don't point fingers and accuse people of things you have no idea about ...
