I consider K2s freesking side core...they listen to what there riders want and then give it to them.

This shit all happens in Snowboarding, a couple years ago MFM was filiming with Mack Dawg the whole year, and the video comes out and hes not in it. Because of sponsor BS he gets his part pulled and they dont tell him.

Because of that, Mack Dawg has to watch there back when they try to film anything in Utahs backcountry. bam bam.

salomon doesn't sell the image i like the most in skiing...salomon sells the technology rather than the love of the sport itself... it's not "soul" enough for my taste... i don't really feel like salomon tries as hard to cater to the newschool movement as much as they want to sell product, which is fair enough seeing as they are a company, but i'd be more willing to support them if they tried as hard to sell their twintips as they did their racing skis..... but then again, i am a dirty hippy and am not a huge fan of corporations in any section of the market, so my opinion is pretty biased

for me it is like this ski companies sell skis which i buy whoever sells skis i like i buy from i dont care who is sponsered by who or who is supporting newschool by having "soul"

 
i don't see the point in giving upwards of 400$ of my own money to a company i don't think is that spectacular when i can support another one....you have to buy skis at some point, it might as well be from someone you believe in

And about the Abma matter, good for him, if he's excited about it then thats a good thing.

 
if abma is getting more money than good for him, he deserves it. He's a sick skier so i doubt that his skiing on salomons will make him put together worse segment.

 
If you got paid like $30000 a year more to ride some skis that aren't exactly terrible in any respects, why would you not do it?

It's not like the skis make that much of a difference to him anyways.

That kind of shit is trivial to skiers at his level.

^yep - it's a job and a career just like any of us will one day have. They're lucky that they can do what they love and get paid for it, but just like any other industry, you do work and get paid for it. If Salomon offered Abma more money than props to him for taking it. He, like Candide, and hopefully a lot of other super talented kids understands that his window of opportunity is limited to make money skiing.

Because a professional ski career peaks at an age of about 26. Mark needs to make all the money he can before he is slowly pushed out of a high money making position in the industry, and has to do something for the other 30 years of his life before he can actually retire.

salomon makes good skis (starting with this year, 1080s weren't that good) and i respect their riders.
