Once upon a time, I shot and produced ski stuff. NSTV, x-games, even JOSS. I don't get to do too much of that anymore, but I miss it sometimes. I was lucky enough to dabble again this year through a collaboration with Red Bull.

The concept is similar to that of X-games Real Snow, but the difference is that each round requires a new edit... oh, and the kids are in college.

Eight hand-picked collegiate ski teams (Including NS' own Hood crew) compete in a battle of video supremecy. The winning team must survive three rounds of head-to-head match-ups to see who had the best day of the season.

New round. New deadline. New film.

Each round, the video with the most likes, wins. So go vote!

The winners get an all expense paid VIP trip to a mountain of their choice, and a ton of other prizes. Every team gets a GoPro, Swag, and exposure. There are other prizes for consolation round.

Also, for the record, even if teams lose, they will still be competing in consolation rounds, so expect all 3 edits out of all 8 teams. Should be more skiing and good stuff in this next round.

haha popularity competitions have never been our thing, woulda been sick to win so redbull could throw us a bangin party! Getting smoked by UMASS tho, they almost showed a full ski shot start to finish in that edit!

Reread what I wrote. Red Bull is giving us the run around. This is not a problem on our end. Communication is a two way street. I would not be posting about this if we were able to solve it in other ways. I'm being public with the hope that things will change, because Red Bull doesn't seem to care right now.

And I don't know the exact reasons yet, or whether it's even intentional, but one thing is very clear right now:

LMU is being favored heavily over everyone else by the people running the competition, AKA Red Bull.

This needs to be explained, and it needs to change.

From what I understand, each crew has the ability to work with the local/campus RedBull reps (aka "student brand managers") to make things happen, seems like some reps were more resourceful than others

yeah this seems weird to me. the only "edit" that even resembles a ski / snowboard edit is one love's... just my opinion though

what were the actual guidelines besides this morning / day / night thing?

Yeah I don't think they really made that clear to everyone else. We were just told to talk to our rep when we asked about getting free Red Bull and that's it... Oh and we knew about this comp before he did.

Basically, the central organizers have been bad at circulating important info. Annoying as fuck but no bad intent.

I also want to make a couple things clear:

I like this comp. I like the idea, and the prizes and potential exposure are so sick. I also have absolutely nothing against LMU. This is not their fault in any way, and their video is sick as fuck. I voted for it. Matt is my friend. He's the reason I'm involved to begin with.

Sorry if I came on strong, but some shit needed to be explained, and @Cheech, I thought you meant our main guy, not the campus/local rep.
