Mcdonel was the dude doing the sweet mistys on the 1/4 pipe hip thingy in 13, he was an acro and areials skier on the canadian team a few years ago, I think he was from North bay but i might be wrong on that.

i met him last summer...he's a bit of a dick in my opinion and he is seriously lacking in the skill department. thats why you havn't heard much from him since 13. i think he may be coaching some freestyle but i'm not too sure

Yes, Paynter in the moguls. McDonnel went the way of Atkinson, Paynter, Toben, Meyer, etc. Just faded cause the rest of the pros were progressing and they were not.

They just got left behind.

 
HE IS AN ARIELIST NOW! (not that its a bad thing) but he did the Budweiser Ariel Assualt show. it toured around a bunch of ski areas in the states and did like 5 shows in utah during the olypics to end up the tour.

i thought he was the worst coach there. he just seems really stuck up to me and he's just quiet and boring.....thats my two cents

Toben still gets play in the mags and such. He did well last year, and was a playa in the snowjam qp thing.

toben was at the wsi halfpipe i think, but i dont think much so i could be wrong

He's an awesome skier fuckers. However posted that he lacks in skills is a faget. In regards to Toben and Mark and all those guys. They have all moved past freeskiing as a job and just do it as a hobbie. Toben teaches arieals at Fortress and Atkinson does mogul training. They didn't just fade out, they wanted to give back. Fuckers

My gawd, the kids today don't know their roots. I'll have to lay a histroic beatdown on some of you guys.

Shit, I forgot to talk about MacDonnel. Its to bad he went the way of the B-pro, but his big thing, if I remember correctly, was rotation with retraction. He'd spin 9 in the pipe, but not tuck his legs up. This was back in the back of sloppy rewinds by Tanner Hall, so it was rad, but nowadays, I guys its not very cool. Some nice stuff though. And, speaking of the brute 'ol days, remember Kevin Douglas getting schooled by Szocs at the spoon game?

Sigs are really starting to bug me.
 
Yeah TAK that was hilarious, Szocs bopped him right on the head with that spoon! You could hear it too. 'CRACK' Anyway, Toben still rips hard, he got second at the Orage Big Air and Q Pipe last year, only being beat by Philou so anyone who thinks he isnt a contender still is wrong. His venus fly trap in the QPipe is sick if he can stick it with a grab. As for Marc Mcdonnel, he stopped skiing as much as he used to after Bret Carlson died on that road gap. I guess Marc was with him when he died and it shook him up so he laid low and wasnt as much into skiing for a while. Some of you should go back and watch Degenerates and State of Mind to see where our sport came from. Some of the old dudes could KILL IT back then.

 
McDonnell was a coach of mine for five years with the Blackcomb freestyle team. Yes he is quiet, but I don't know how you can judge a person you don't know just cause he is quiet. He is still a fucking awesome skier and he is continuing to progress. He has been doing the Budweiser aerials show as a NEWSCHOOL skier, not an Aerialist and he never has been an aerialist and I am pretty sure that he has never competed as an acro skier. Know your shit before you start talking about people.

 
i just got bad vibes when i was wit him....he coached me a bit last summer and compared to other coaches he did a lousy job......that was just my impression....i'm not just blindly saying that he has no skill and i do recognize that he was there when all this shit began.....but that doesn't change what i think of him.
