^^^no shit, but that is what is so crazy about professional skiers, they put their lives and health on the line to get shots and footage and if they get hurt the ski companies can get out scot-free at least by the till of the end of the contract, which most contracts in skiing are from a year to year bias, if the sponsers are even paying the athlete to ski for them (most sponserships in skiing just give you gear and incentives for any mags or movies you make it in).
In other professional sports(NBA, NFL, MLB, etc.) the teams pay for surgery, recovery and have to honor their player's contracts and usually there are parts in the contracts that give the players/player's family more money if they die or get injured to where they can never play again.
