Ive never edited any kind of video before, and I'd like to get into it and try it.

i have a camera. i have a cord that plugs into the camera. that cord goes from my camera to the USB port.

Now i have to swallow my pride and ask this rediculous question that i cant seem to answer.

How the fuck do I get the video from my camera onto my computer?

feel free to laugh. but then help me out afterwards.

thats the thing. i dont think i am. i mean ive uploaded hundreds of pictures using Viewpoint (something simple so i can just get my pictures onto my computer) but it wont work with my video camera.

It sounds like you might need a DV cable. I'm pretty sure the only way to put video onto the computer through USB is if the video is on your memory card, and if this is the case, the video will probably be shitty quality.

ummm, it's hard to explain what it looks like, but the plug in is a little smaller than a USB.

But if you have a basic computer, chances are there won't be a plug in on your computer, and you'll have to have one installed.

hahahahahahahaha NOOB!!!1!!1!!!111!!!one!one!!11!!

okay enough...

Is this actually a video camera or a digital picture camera we are talking about?

If it is a video camera it should have included a chord that one end is a DV plug that goes into your camera and the other end is a USB plug that goes into your computer.

After that, open up windows movie maker click capture video which is under the file menu.

Play the video through your camera while it records onto the computer.

Do your editing, save the project file.

Then click under file menu and click save movie file and go through the options and you will end up with a playable movie file in windows media player.

Voila!

Just helpin' out a fellow WisComptonite. Jea Jea.

I'm not very computer literate, but I don't think that cord exists. If it does, I have never seen one with any of my camera puchases. For your sake, I hope you have one if it exists, but I think you need a different port on your computer.

That's good.

Here is a firewire for the DV plug in. The plug in on the right goes to the coputer, and the left goes to the camera. They work well for video.

went to best buy...turns out i have a firewire port in the back of my coimputer. got the right cord, got all my footage uploaded. ill post the edit when im done.

thanks again. i notice that the media and arts section drinks way less haterade than the NSG. bravo
