Well to the general public it is more or less seen that a assault rifle is a assault weapon meant to kill. Whereas a pistol or sidearm is a self defense weapon. Regardless both will kill. I think that's what borty is saying.

If those officers did what they did in my home, say to my brother, I would not only sue the fuck out of the police station, but also make sure those officers lost their jobs.

How come America seems to have a reputation of having one of the worst (developed country) police forces in the world? Look at Europe (western). Police are actually there to help you, not make you nervous or paranoid. Look at how those Swedish cops on vacation in NYC handled a mentally ill man with a knife on an NY subway. Why can't our police force be like that.

They've always had either AR's or shotguns in their cars. Dispatch passed this along to the cops that the person killed had a sword, not a knife. That changes the game here.

Police need more mental health training...but this would mean higher taxes. Same goes for body cams.

From what I've seen in the news, and on reddit...this is just another cop hate circle jerk without much evidence to back up either side of the issue.

Ultimately, you cannot tell intent by looking at the equipment. To assume anything is just ludicrous.

This is why we need cameras on police men.

That would be very helpful since the dead man can't tell his story. But, in this case I am sure they would have justified the murder since the man had a knife. They already are justifying it. Yeah maybe he was swinging a knife, but kill the suicidal man? He has mental problems. What all cops really need is a taser.

American police are some of the dumbest and every day I hear shit about one officer or another misusing his/her power. A man had a stroke in a car and wasn't responding to police and the police tased him. Shit America, you need to reform police training big time. Maybe take out that rule where you can actually be too smart to be an officer?
