Im planning on moving west near the end of the summer. How hard is it to find a decent job and pay rent?

anyone have any idea what it costs to live close to either place? or atleast close to a bus line?

Mammoth will be much closer to the mountain. The Reno/Tahoe area will be much easier to find a job in and the cost of living will also be loweer, especially in reno.

but if you live in tahoe you clse to the mountains and have more job exposure, reno is shitty. mammoth is remote tahoe is the shit.

I may be misunderstanding your logic, but if you live in Tahoe you will not have more job exposure than living in Reno. There is an extensive amount of jobs and opportunities in a city; living in the mountains, not so much.

no, but reno is shitty i was talking about compared to living in mammoth or june lakes. tahoe is a good middle plus you have tourism jobs all year round.

ok so do you all think if i just hitched out to tahoe i could resonably find a job and an apartment pretty easily?

Not as easy as reno. so if you didn't find one in Tahoe you could always fall back onto to Reno, they are only 30-50 mins apart depending on where you start from and go. Tahoe would be sweet and so would mammoth, but you will find a higher paying job in reno and there is more to do interms of night life. Try one of the casino's possibly.

what would be the best way for me to go about it? just go and find and call numbers or should i try to line up a place/roomate first?

why don't you wait one year...work your butt off, save and pinch every penny that you can (don't touch your money except for absolute emergencies. then you can come out here a little bit more comfortably and we don't have to smell you in the gondolas.

try the internet for jobs and places to work in reno, I know that works. Not sure about Tahoe or Mammoth though. If you don't have any money yet I don't think you'll be able to afford to live in Mammoth or Tahoe until you get settled out west. Or you could just work at a resort and live in employee housing for a year....which would suck balls, but you wouldn't have to worry about a car or place to live and all that other shit.

kings beach is the only affordable rent in tahoe, not sure on south lake.

Studios for around 500, that are basically large closets.

Id try to find a place now, its not easy later.

... you just need roomies, our house in Agate Bay is $1500/mo for a three bedroom three bathroom plus office plus garage... my old house on High Street is for rent 1500/mo for htree bedroom two bathroom plus loft plus workshop plus two handrails next to the house... its cheaper to live in Tahoe than most places in the city or on the coast

there are tons of jobs in mammoth, and its not too expensive either. tahoe will be the most expensive for sure. reno is chill.. but it gets to be a bitch driving to the mountains when you put in 60+ days a year
