Mammoth Spring

Hey I may be making a trip out to mammoth soon and was wondering how it is out there. It seems like most of the park is open and should be prime. How's the rest of the mountain?
Also we are thinking of flying into Reno and driving to mammoth. Is there a better place to fly into from the east? I don't really want to fly into MMH in hopes to save some money.
Any other advice or knowledge you may have would be awesome.

Reno is the best airport to fly into if you are going to drive here. Only a 3hr drive.

Parks are a bunch of fun. Tons of stuff open this weekend, but otherwise, best bet is just shredding park on chair 6.

^I thought it was more like 5?but i might be driving down from tahoe. was there at the beginning of last summer and it was pretty sick.also this is from max peters from 2 days ago. so the park looks pretty decent/static/images/flash_video_placeholder.png

colby when are you going mr. man? call me when you do. I'm going to be in mammoth a week from today.

annnnd i'll be in San Clemente (6 hours out) all summer. so if you're coming later, let me know. we'll do some serious UVMFiSTing at mammoth.
its will eginton btw....

I'm gonna be up at the mountain tomorrow not matter what the conditions. Hopefully I'll see some of ya out there!
and will get out here asap!

Skied over the holiday weekend and it was awesome! Got some good pow turns in too. Can't wait to get back there in two weeks.

Reduced operations. They are not running chair 2 anymore either. Chair 1 runs the entire season and you can reach the park from there. Exciting news is the spring pipe is starting to take shape.

since chair six is closed, can you access any big jumps? better question: how big are the jumps as of now? and is there an airbag open?

No it isn't. I just lapped 6 for the last few hours. 6 & 2 are Fri/Sat/Sun only now. At least this week they are.

You can still access everything from Chair 1. The jumps are still pretty big. There's a 3-pack of smaller (10-20ft) jumps on forest trail followed by another line of real small jumps. In main park, there's two medium size jumps on the right side and a line of about 3 medium sized jumps on the left. There are also still two big jumps at the bottom, 40-60 ft i think. There's a ton of rails set up still and some other fun shit. The regular 22ft pipe is pretty fun but it is closing in a few days and the upper spring pipe will be opening. They are also still doing the airbags Fri-Sun with unlimited jumps for $20/day. One bag is set up with a few normal jump takeoffs and the other one has a 22-ft spine thing into it for practicing halfpipe tricks.

its just for the weekend bro, and they werent planning on it until a few days ago. and no they aren't open for the week, possibly 2 but not 6.

no jumps at mammoth are over 45-50 feet at the moment at least the ones that are accessible by the public. They took a TON of meat off of the last jump, its maybe like 35 foot gap now. If you think different your trippin, main got pussified.

No idea about 6, it isn't on the schedule to be open anymore but I imagine if they get a big enough crowd on weekends they'll run it. The pipe for the spring park is being built but I don't know when they'll start building the jumps and jibs. Probably within a week they will start on it if they don't tonight.
