Mammoth backcountry meet?

I just came off a season at whis with some of the most skin and hike accessible BC anywhere, and now im back to my current place of exile (LA).
How is the BC access in the mammoth area? it seems like it might be futile without a sled.
is there hikable / skin-able terrain near convict lake? june lake loop? etc?
message me if youd like to plan a day.

There is a great way off the backside where you end up over by tamarack and can take the shuttle back to the village gondola. Or you can just hit chair 22....

yeah, im familiar with hole in the wall and a route to tamarack, as well as some stuff around hemlock.
im thinking june mtn holds more promise. Hey, are you up here this week?

Mammoth has great backcountry access, Im surprised nobody has posted anything yet.

The sherwin mountains are like less than a mile away. You can park at

tamarak lodge and its about a 45min-hour long hike to the top, and you

can just keep on going further and further down the ridge for new

terrain and fresh lines, Ive hiked the sherwins 3 times in 1 day, its

super easy and actually alot of vertical for the ammount of work it

takes. Stop by mammoth mountaineering for more info and advice, or

maybe kittridge sports. The best part is you can ski down over the

snowcreek golf course to a bus stop, and take the bus all the way back

to your car at tamarak, its great!

Also june has all sorts of great out-of-bounds skiing that will shoot

you out right at the road, and then you can hitchike back to J1, its

basically backcountry with lift access.
