Making Tramp Skis

OK i have a pair of really old k2 slalom racing skis. they are like 210 cm. i planned to just take out the edges of them but should i still duct tape them? i figure you take the bindings off right? but then how do i hold my shoes to them? also, what is a good/cheap way to cut down the skis to like 170?

Doesnt matter the size u ski, doesnt matter what type u ski, only matters how hard u ski, and your love to ski

Cut 'em real short, and duck taping them wont hurt and its not hard. I also used my really old shoes and just duck taped the shit outa them right onto my skis. So instead of putting on my shoes, then skis, i just put on my skis, that already have shoes on them. worked pretty good too.

I would deff duct tape them also its just a second protection so u dont rip ur tramp that would suck, use a hack saw or circualr saw if u have one, really anything with a metal blade will cut through a ski

IF you have some old ski boots, ductape them right to the ski, this worked really good for me.

sounds like a good plan- this is a pricy (I think) alternative: Evolution makes customized tramp skis and snowboards for the Max-Air Snowflyers (tramp and ramp stunt team out of SLC)- the boards are lighter, stiffer, don't have edges, are shorter, etc. I don't know if they market them commercially, though.

just get a hack saw and cut them to 170....and just put someshit bindings on and use some boots instead of shoes!

yeah i saw max-air it was cool but all there tramps are rectangular. i would think skis would snap on a round tramp but maybe thats just me.

yeah, i duct taped my skis and then duct taped shoes to them. worked good, but then one of the skis snapped in half. in was still wicked fun

I got pissed of trying to put more than one thing in my signiture, so i give up. signatures are gay

I made a pair of ski with foam and plastic rods, they worked really well.

I'm feeling greeaaaattt!!!!

I got an old pair o rentals 210 then I blowtorched them short by cutting the ski virtually in half. When the plastic and metal end (dont think it will work with woodcores) was still semi melted I used pliers to pull the tip up, painted them as bradairs it was great. Mind you I recently dystroyed them due to an unfortunate roof jump :S

leave the bindings on because if you try to use shoes its alot easier to tear up your ankle and just use your ski boots

just use a saw to cut the skis off....its will wurk

-my name is sirjibsalot i like to jib rails alot, curved ones, kinked ones, long ones, short ones, rainbow ones, and hand rail ones, because my name is sirjibsalot-

use skiblades. They are good for something!

if u had a regular large circle tramp that you can buy at ur local wal mart and such for 300 or watever wud the skis or skiboards and such cut thru the tramp? i mean how safe is it?

'One day I'm going to learn something i swear'

tape up the edges. how do you guys pad the medal bars? any suggestions other than the pad that comes with it??

Go to a camping store, and buy some sheap foam pads (thick ones, you can also get them at foam stores (hey, they fucking exist alright), and just cut and duct tape until you're happy with your metal bar protection factor.

Another good idea (but it takes time, and a willing property own), is to dig a hole, the depth and diamter of the tramp, and just drop it in, then you can't fall off, because you'll already be a ground level.

No one on their death bed has ever said 'I wish I had played it safe'

Or you could buy a pair of Timberlands and fill them with sand. Sure it would be absolutely nothing like skiing, but it sure would be funny looking, espically when you tried taking them off.
