Im bored because its summer and I want to start printing t shirts. Ive got 2 screen print kits in my basement, and a dry mount printing press. What is the best way to start making tees? Dry mount pressing, iron on prints, or screen printing?

yo i'm also bored and starting to make shirts. I have a bunch of designs and a screen printing kit.

I'm gonna screen print tomorrow so ill update this thread to show you how it goes.

how much are these kits? and are they like huge press iron type things?

i use this silk screening stuff but i use a stencil and its ill.

incase anyone knows, when your putting the emulsion on the screen, does that along with the drying have to be in pitch black, like everything before burning the image in?

umm i dont know what their kits are, but what you need consists of screen silk, photo imulsion, a squeegee, a desk lamp, and the fabric ink

hmmm well do you think this works decently?

go online

print out what you want onto butcher paper

cut out the picture that you want with an exacto knife

lay it on a shirt and iron on the stencil until it doesnt move

brush on the opaque fabric paint

peel off the stencil and let dry

is this sketch? turns out fine but im not too sure.

my mom is kinda in to screen printing, so that's what i do. damn chemicals didn't work out today, gotta buy more. but i like that a lot more than iron on bullshit. looks more professional.

are the screen printing kits really worth it?

cus i tried making a ghetto version.

like basically getting a screen and an embroidery hooop.

and then taking a picture and tracing it,

and then just put some waterproof glue on the screen only on the negatives of the image.

this hasent been working too well.

(very in consistant etc.)

waht kits do you have, speedball?

and is it worth the $50 for the kit?

screen printing is the shit. I used to do it in high school in our graphics class. It's so fun and the end product is a kick ass shirt or hoodie or whatever your making. def go that route you won't regret it. just make sure your screen is super tight on the frame.

when putting the emulsion on the screens back in high school we used yellow light for the emulsion we were using but it might be different for different kinds. as for the drying part, just store your screens in a dark place that no light will get in. i hope that answered your questions.

umm yeah thats sounds sketchy but hey if it works then why not? you should put up pictures demonstrating, i'll give it a shot, and by butcher paper you mean wax paper or something else? sorry it took me awhile my laptop died and i didnt have the charger
