Making smoking only allowed in R-rated movies

anyone else see these posters around that if theres smoking in ur movie it is automatically r-rated. i think its teh most retarded thing they could do, soo stupid and pointless

yeah I saw that! such bullshit, smoking isnt a crime. Personally I hate cigs and whatnot, but that doesnt mean I dont like people who smoke. They have just as many rights as we do.

I'd rather smoke a cigar than eat a McDonalds. yet you see McDonalds ads targeting kids every day on TV, which leads to obesity and heart failure.

I think "making smoking only allowed in r-rated movies" should not mean movies with smoking be rated R, i think it should mean that we are allowed to smoke in the theatre when watching an R rated movie ahaha

for a minute there i thought there was some new law saying that if i was watching an r rated movie id get to smoke a butt in the theater instead of missing precious scenes by having to go outside halfway thropugh the movie...that would have been sweet

thats what i thought. smoking should be able to be in any movie. now i can see why nudity is only in r rated movies bc people dont run around like that all the time. but if you walk down the street you can see seval people smoking.

the ratings board is pretty fucked already, but I see this as a good thing. If a film is forced to have an r rating because someone is smoking in it, then they can leave way more in the movie than if it were a pg13 release. And really the only movies worth paying for are already rated R. And personally I think R-ratings are too restrictive on content. Which forces me to wait for dvd releases of director cuts. Sure we should censor stuff for kids and all, but I should be able to see whatever the fuck I want.

I think that's a great idea

think of a great movie, now think of how much worse that movie would be without a guy smoking cigarettes in it...yea not much worse eh?

Free speech man! If you're too godam dumb to NOT smoke in the first place, then don't fuckin blame movies for having cigs in them.

i cant believe some people are going with this. I think censorship is the dumbest bullshit ever, even if its to sheild children. Kids need to learn to cope with life, not grow up to be whiney sheltered bitches.

i think you guys are blowing this way out of proportion. If you want to talk about censorship and free speech htne you should be against movie rating in the first place, not about this little smoking dealeo.

no because movie ratings just tells parents what kind of content is ahead, in case the parents do want to censor their kids; its entirely up to them.

but the smoking thing just contributes to the "no under 17 kids allowed in R movies" (which I also think is the biggest bullshit ever) deal even worse. More movies will be R rated and less kids will get to see it.

you see the difference I notice is with ratings, the parents/viewer/etc have a choice. With the smoking thing, anyone underage is fucked because its "illegal" to watch it or some shit because it will be rated R.

see some different movies where people smoke and it makes em look badass and shit cuz theres alot.

has anyone seen "thank you for smoking" a big part of that movie is people deciding for themselves whether or not to smoke, not cuz they see it in movies or something. they should make barney or some shit smoke fuck it

meh, who cares. Like I said, the only movies worth paying to see in a move theater are already R. I guess they'll have to cut the smoking scene out of the next Air Bud.

My city is smoke free, meaning no smoking in any public places. They are also making a law that you cant smoke in a car if you have a passanger.

WTF dude you cant even last a couple hours during a movie? Good job running your life around a chemical.

Anywho this is bs becaus e of the amount of gore allowed in pg13 movies, even some stuff in pg

go fuck yourself...its called an addiction...if i were you guys id never pick up a cigg because it'll soon be a 5 dollar a day habbit...and that sucks

do people really need to smoke in the movies??

like seriously i do enjoy ciggerets and will buy a pack maybe like every 2 weeks for shits n gigglez to just have but seriously tho

I agree with ratings but I don't agree with how you have to be 17 to see an R rated movie alone. They should have ratings to warn parents but most parents don't care if there 14 - 16 year old watches an R rated film. And if your parents are there it doesn't make a difference its the same movie.

and the smoking thing is ridiculous.

no one smokes anymore, its not cool anymore (at least where im from) my parents said like 90% of the people smoked when she went to highschool, and now at mine of a population of 2000+ there is maybe 20 kids out smoking at lunch time ... its crazy. ive never touched a cig in my life.

so if its not such an influence on kids anymore i dont see why it has to be taken out of movies

i dont get who still would think smoking is cool. if someone i know smokes i dont think they are any cooler than any one who dosen't. i dont smoke but i dont think the tobacco industry should be held responsable for the deaths thier products cause, you willingly light up they didnt force you.

ya, you cant even spank a kid these days with out i being taken as a beating, look at how fucked up kids are becoming, 10 year olds preg and whatnot
