Ok people. Is it possible to make skis. Like homemade at your house from scratch. i just think it would be really kool to have a pair that u could be like, i made these. Even if thye don't work it would still be kool. Also, is it possinle to make a skateboard or wakeskate or anything. i just want sumthin nobody else has that i can say i made.

i've made 2 skimboards before. my second one actually turned out to be better than some others that ive riden. if u want ill make one, sell it to u and u can say u made it.

 
if you can't make your own skis...you can just take some old fucked up twin tips and paint over them and design them and shit...keane pro-models.

i'm guessin on this one five0...but just get something to bend them...or kinda melt the ends first then bend it??? write to a company and ask them.

i heated up my old atomics and bent up the tails

not i use them for urban shit.

could you shape the tips also...you know how the skis with the really big tips (scratch, skogen) have curved tips on both sides?? how would you shape a ski like that???

Use a heavy duty saw that you can manuver, then take sandpaper to it and round it off smoother. you wouldnt have any edges in that part though, and I would put a few rivets to keep them fron delaming.

i used an iron, put it on the base until the bases were melting, bent it in a vice then thre it in the snow to cool....now the ski is broke in haf from rails and missing the tails....not a good idea unless ur screwing around like i was

ive done it you take a iron like thaty you would use to wax then you keep the iron on the bottom of the ski for about 2 minutes then do the same thing on the top and the bend them how ever you want and keep them in that position untill the cool down

i have hella small straight skis that i used when i was a kid...and i'm gonna make them into a twin tip...how would i make them so they're shaped not straight????

take to pieces of 2 by fours, and pencil in some graphic

fuck, can anyone help me, like with makin actual skis or a skateboard? Also, if u make twins outta regular skis make sure u put any kind of rivet in the tails or else they will delaminate.

 
take some ptex and some wood and some other stuff and epoxy it all together. Put metal edges in the side. bend up the tails and tips. Run over slowly with car. Repeat for next ski.

It would be tight to take some old 200+ cm skis and bend the tips and tails up like a foot. Then they wouldnt be really short and theyd look sweet.

My girlfriend told me to shove my skis up my ass

its basically like a gun that shoots heat.

or a very fucking high powered blow dryer.

they are about $75 at any hardwear store.

so anywho, i heat up my old atomics and bend the shit out of em, their basically like lines, equall tip and tail.

if your gonna do it though, dont point the gun in one spot too long, cause you skis will melt faster then you can say fuck.

and take frequent breaks, cause a) skis smell like shit when their your heating them, and b) it is easier to bend them little by little.

there are like 3 threadson this, but, the way i did it was boil the tails in a big ass pot, and bend them in a vice. when i used the blowtorch, it melted it layer by layer,not all at once,and the hot water did that. when they bend, they arent like putty, just kind of moldable, so dont be expecting soft shapable material, you have to be brutish about it, but if they turn out, the work well for shitty urban assult skis

this is a very very old thread, but to answer his question, yes. with enough determination, education, skill, and patience, you can make your own pair of skis.

but I don't recommend it to anybody, as it is a DAUNTING task to say the least.

As an engineer and ski designer, i'd advise avoiding places like killington, ice capital of the world, with homemade skis. Unless you have a first-class garage operation like Igneous. god rest their souls.

tip your 40s for Igneous, everybody...
