So I wanted to look into making my own shirts because most of the stuff I find I don't like. I more or less have no clue what the hell to do haha, I know silk screen works well and I wanted to look into that. Also where could I buy a lot of nice fitting large T0shirts in bulk? Any idea how much it would cost to make a silk screen thing and how much shirts would cost and colors and all that stuff. Basically just looking for a lot of input, maybe some site links, thanks a ton in advance everyone.

Honestly it can be alot cheaper and easier if you hire it out. Thats what I did, I wanted pro results. It can be an art at times, you will go through lots of screens, lots of ink, lots of shirts.Look at the kits, they dont include everything but give you a good idea of what you need. And also look up on Makezine.com they have tons of articles on printing

If I remember right, they make fabric spray paint, so yes
any art store sells fabric paint. they also just released these fabric markers which are essentially drip mops(graffiti markers) filled with watered down fabric paint. I've had success with both of those products but would recommend the paint for a better heavier finish. making your own shirts is a process that is quite frusterating. if you want clean crisp lines from stencils it definitely takes some practice. if you are down have more of a painting then you'll find the markers to be great.
as far as shirts go American apparel whole sales soild color shirts but i would reccomend getting 5 white tees for 20 at finish line that seems to be the best deal and they are of decent quality.

well i use sharpies dunno if they will work after the wash though.
I'm looking to make some quality ones, I've tried sharpies and they come out not so great most of the time. I know how to make stencils so thats not a big deal, hopefully this wont run me a fortune and maybe i can get a bunch of dope shirts going and sell them for a reasonable price

I have thought about it too but dont have the time or space at the moment.....here is my take.
I would look into doing them on your own. There are plenty of tutorials out there on screen printing like on youtube, you would be surprised what you can learn on there when you do a little research. Just buy a screen and some emulsion, and some ink., Make some makeshift equipment with shit in your dad's garage. Get experimental, go abstract, use a paintbrush or stencils, use house paint, stain, bleach, whatever else you can find around the house...Get Artsy with that shit!
IMO Printed shirts that someone had sent out to a shop are a dime a dozen...anyone can draw up something and send it to a print shop.
Personally I am more interested in the craft, the journey and discovery, rather than the end result looking "Professional". Coming up with something unique and interesting doesn’t mean it has to be neat and perfect, but instead fresh, and 1 of a kind.
If you are making them for yourself I think you would get much more satisfaction out of them if you did the process on your own, but it is also a lot more work.
