making pics smaller

Hey I was wondering how to make pics smaller. All my pictures on my comp from my digital camera are over 400 kb or so and they can only be 50 kb to post them here. It would be great if you could give me some advice. Thanks!

when using photoshop resave them using the 'save to web' option in the file menu play with settings in there to change the size.
