making black and white prints from color negitive?

is there a trick tot this, i tryed it today and i had to do like a 4 min exposer, i mite not of had the best negitive for it but i think i have to be doing somting wrong if i was a 4 min exposer with the inlarger at f2.8

 
ive done it a lot before. works ok but not quite as good and a b&w negative. i developed for the same time as my b&w negatives and didnt have a problem. try using a different neg and make some test strips

i used to use like a #3 pink filter and it made things work pretty well. havent done any printing in a couple years.

not exactly sure what you are trying to do, so this may or may nto work, but there is always photoshop
