Making Beer

Anyone tried this? It sounds like a really good time, and in a couple weeks I will have 5 gallons of beer to reward myself with. I'm gonna start making it all tomorrow as I bought all the ingredients today. How satisfying. Crunkifying yourself off your own creation.

yeah its not worth doing if yo udont have all the right stuff, and make sure everything is sanitized like the guy a few posts above me said. If you get any bacteria in it at all while the beer has to sit it will turn out terrible. It is fun tho, good luck

actually thats only if you try and distill it into moonshine and fuck it up. there are no bacteria that can grow in beer that are fatal. The worst you can get in there is basically equivilent to bread mold. Beer yeast consume sugar and produce ethanol, which is the alchohol that gets you drunk, but doesnt do anything bad to you (unless of course you abuse it like mad). If you DISTILL the beer though (aiming to make a really really disgusting beverage sort of like..well sort of like shit. my brothers housemates whore chem majors tried it, turned out badly) you can end up with methanol in your shit if you fuck up. methanol is what blinds/kills you. With homebrew, if you make the smallest mistake all that'll happen is itll taste like shit.

it will probly take you a few batches, but after a while you should be able to come up with some good brew....dont get too discouraged after your first attempt, mine pretty much sucked but we drank it anyway.

there is a small brewery in my town that makes homemade beer. It isnt too bad, either. I get 6 cases of 24 for 99$ plus tax which comes out to $115. or around 70 cents per beer

So I started to throw all the ingredients together and such. My dad makes mad brews, so he helped me out a bit. Actually a lot. Actually he did it all. But its rad. YOu have to sanitize EVERYTHING, and make sure that you put like the grain in while the malt water is hot but not boiling or it'll over flow, and you have to stir it for a certain amount of time until its at a certain temp. Its loco. But wait three-four weeks and I'll have lots o' beer.

I've made a few batches of beer. Just like everyone else said, sanitization is very important.

You can put together all of the equipment for less than $50. And to make 5 gallons, you need to spend another $30.

The only times my beer sucked was when I screwed up the recipe or didn't sanitize well enough. Every other batch has been delectable.

you couldn't be more wrong. Back when there was a lot of bootleg hard alcohol being produced during prohibition, a few people went blind because of the cheap lead pipes that were used in the stills. You can't go blind from brewing your own beer.

My friends and I made some over the summer when we went on a spree of producing fermented juices and mead.
