Making a rail?

ok people maybe you can help. i have a long pole(metal) and i want to turn it into a good hand rail. i need to put some legs on it so i can stand it up in the snow. any ideas what i can attach without welding that wont fall apart???

 
Thats what i mean i need something to stand on without welding. i was thinking about screwing pvc or wood into the pole for something to stand opn but i dont think it would work

 
You need to get a drill with a metal working bit. Then at the end on the poles drill from the outside into the inside BUT DONT go through to the other side. Then you can get some heavy duty screws and washers and attatch them to a pieces of wood. This works ok, but it much better to weld. You can go to a metalworking show and they can build you one if you supply the materials for 20-40dollars american.

I was thinking of making one out of two street sign posts that you would find in a neighborhood. It will basically be a short shotgun rail. My brother is going to do the welding I hope.

im making a rail out of wood and plexiglass..hopefully it goes well..ill ost picks when im done

just get angle iron and just bolt it on to wooden supports, it really doesnt cost that much, i just found i sweet kinked rail that is just sittin behind this shed, i am gonna load it up on my truck!

 
i've made pvc....never really wanted to bother with metal, pvc u can make some crazy rails tho with ease, they dont hold up very well tho

 
i made some dope raill....i just made the supports and shit out of wood and stole the metal pipe from a local construction yard!

yeah we stole the pole form a no parking sign at the top of my road. but i think im gonna wait till i can get it welded to do anything. so we just went up to an old high school and hacksawed down a nice rail. cops came so well have to go back and finish it of but it should be good.
