Does any one have any advice on making a getto moped out of a mountain bike? I want to put a small 2 stroke on my steelhead and run it as a 9 speed moped, any sugestions on gearing, motors and what not?

my thoughts:
-ditch the steelhead and buy a moped
OR
-buy an engine kit, and a bi-turbo exhaust kit for a badass set-up

if your gonna bother doing this at least make it run on biodiesiel/vegetable oil

I made one last year. There is no way you're going to attach the motor to the sprocket of your bike. It's a much smaller sprocket and would break and a chain that can take the stress of an engine is not flexible enough to change positions like a bikes chain. What I did was take a bike peg and attach it to a weed wacker engine. I then mounted the engine on the frame with the bike peg pushing down on the tire. There is no clutch so to start it I just started pedaling and the engine started itself. To stop I throttled it down and used the brakes. It worked great for a few months until the mounts on the engine broke from the vibration. My friend thought it'd be a good idea to go offroading...
