Making a living isn't the same as making a life (enclosed rant)

Hey NS I just wanted to me very self absorbed and tell you about my life or lack there of...
So over the summer I am working two full time jobs, one as a photographer at a resort and one landscaping and am averaging 72-76 hours a week. The reason I am putting myself through this hellish torture is I am trying to save money for a trip that im planning to Japan in January to go skiing for a couple months as well as University in the fall. I have not had a day off of work in almost 3 weeks and going on 3 months not having a single weekend day off, as well as the enjoyment of being in a constant state of fatigue. I was just wondering if anyone else was in the same boat as me and struggling to have a life outside of work... /Rant
Sparks-Work a fuckload-Sooo tired-Anyone else here with me?

my situation isnt as extreme as yours but i totally know what you mean man. im juggling my job and drivers ed and that gives me next to no time anymore it sucks so bad. but hey, its gotta get worse before it gets better. just keepon thinkin about that trip.

man, i'm nowhere near that right now, still trying to find a job even. but damn, that ski trip in japan sounds sooo dope.

im workin 1 full time job. its not bad but i cant imagine working 2...especially physical labor. i do research. kudos

currently trying to work 75 hours of community service in around a full time job and a part time job. not as bad, but i feel your pain

an old very wise skier once told me "a hard day worked in the summer gives you a great day skiing in the winter" i think about that quote all the damn time.

This guy from nepal that I work with works upwards of 13 hours a day. His easy day is sunday when he only works 8 hours. I can't imagine working that much

That actually had no relation to your statement I'm just too lazy to unquote you

I work just about 60 hours a week and I haven;t had a day off in a while. Now I have 3 days off in a row, and it is so relaxing.

But then again I like my job.

Fuck man thats pretty brutal! Ive never had much money but the best time of my life was last year in CA workin as a ski instructor. I worked as much as I needed to to pay rent, buy food, booze, party etc and spent the rest skiing on my own. Scratch ever living every day to make money!

one side of me is saying "quit your bitching" it was your own choice..

and the other side of me feels sorry for you... and then i read skiing in japan for a couple MONTHS, and then i dont feel sorry for you :)

but i have it good ive only worked a little over 50 hours this week. :)

dude, welcome to the real world. I work 16 hours a day 7 days a week and have for as long as i can remember, probably like the start of may. it sucks, but, life is a bitch and then you die so oh well.

Try law school. I pull 60+ hour weeks and I don't even get paid. In fact I pay for the privilege!

whoa that is legit wack, that equals out to being 112 hours of work a week!. Unless I was getting paid to sleep I don't think that my body would be able to handle that.

Oh and if anyone is interested in the trip to Japan im still looking for a couple ppl to go with, PM if interested.

man that is seriously rough, i feel bad for you guys.. i can't even legally work overtime since i'm under 18. so i work 40 hours a week, 5 days a week with weekends off. it's nice.

it is going to pay off soo much when japan comes around just think about that and youll be good working a lot sucks tho dude i feel for you

I worked 14 days strait, about 10 hours each day, and got written up for it. Apparently I worked too much and was sucking up all the county's money. That kind of drive, ambition and discipline will take you far in life, just wait. It'll all be worth it once you get to Japan. Kudos for stepping up to get something you want.

haha if your that lazy, you would die if you had to work as much as some of these guys.

and just keep thinking of why your doing the work dude. once you get to japan, all the menial toil and bullshit will be a distant memory, and your gonna have the time of your life.

weird. I routinely work 50-60 hours a week in the summer and I am 17, going into senior year.

Mine also isn't as regulated since I work at a small farm/common store place.

hey man all i have to say is keep thinkin' positive itll all pay off in the end and when your chillin phat in Japan your not even gunna think about all those hours cause youll be havin a good time. Just keep on doin work.

I hear you...working an internship and another job. so half the week I bust my ass and don't even get paid. I'll be working till about 9 tonight covering a meeting for my internship (reporter for local paper) then up at 530 to work at my other job tomorrow morning. going on 2 weeks without a day off

So the day has finally arrived and my flight for japan is leaving in 4 hours. In the end it was all worth it and I encourage all of you to work for what you want and take the necessary steps in order to get you there. I hope all of your seasons are full of fun times, steep slopes and good friends.
Yours truly,Steezeeepolizeee

i pulled tuna out of the pacific for 16 hours a day for the whole summer. at least you can't get killed taking pictures at a resort and landscaping.

Never forget why you are doing it to begin with. That is how you'll make it through.

or if you can start betting quarters on the internet like i do.

I did this last year, it sucks when you're doing it, but once you're done and off to the snow it was all worth it. Glad it feels the same for you. Have fun in Japan!

just don't go to japan and look like a dork.

every white person i saw in japan made me want to punch them in the face. they were all fucking anime dorks. i saw them walking in harajuku, while i was walking through their lookin like a rockstar and all the schoolies doin the double take.

have fun man.

i worked like that last summer. 50+ hour weeks with 2 days off every 12 days.

i was so tired all the time
