Making a box

What do they use at parks to cover the top of a box, is it plexiglass, pvc, or something else. somebody who works at a park and has made one before tell me, not just anyone who thinks they know. sorry to be a jerk, but i have to settle a dispute with a friend (and make a box)

it's called lexan. i don't build park rails or anything but that's typically what they use. it's basically the same stuff as what they make the boards out of in a hockey rink

Only in my sweetest dreams do my streams lack troubled waters, shallow pools full of shallow fools...

its braided teflon plastic coated with something because when it gets scratched or grooved it doesn't slide as well in that scratched area. (You would need a file or saw to scratch it, skis don't effect it at all.) No hardware stores in my area have it. I think its 8 or 9 bucks a square foot though.

Duffman can't breathe .. oh no

its pretty expensive and you have to look online to buy this lexan stuff

I could see PVC getting cut up and stuff... but people make rails out of it so maybe

use the recycled plastic decking shit, MM had a box made with that last year, it worked decent

skiing sucks

Teflon, HDPE, or Lexan will work. I'm using Lexan for my boxes, found a huge sheet of it in my basement.

lexan is super tough. i dropped a nalgene bottle off a cliff this summer........ no damage.

I threw an empty nalgene at a brick building and it completly shatered. It was real cold out and i was drunk so i threw it pretty hard.

Took me a while to break a nalgene, from my experience, the caps break easily, the bottle itself doesn't.

the HDPE (Moleculary High Density Plastic - Something like that) or whatever acronym is what Mammoth uses, slides the best but is damn expensive

Yea, High Density Polyethylene is quality. If you have the money, you can get it at PolymerPlastics.com, and they'll hook you up. Not sure how much shipping costs, I haven't check out a Lowes or Home Depot to see if they carry it though. A lot of people find connections through building suppliers and stuff and ask for their scrap material, sometimes you just might come up money.
