So im wondering, skiing is a pretty expensive sport especially if you wanna look steezy. But how do all you guys get the money to support the lifestyle? I mean some of you guys have like 5 pairs of skis, 5 jackets, 4 pants, etc. How do you afford it?

get a damn job. ride your bike to work so you don't have to pay for gas/insurance/car payment. take a lunch, don't buy it. wear one pair of pants and one t-shirt, and sell the rest of your clothes on ebay. sell your sister on ebay as a sex slave. these few simple tips should give you a few extra bucks.

My first year in the sport, I made money. I find skiing surprisingly cheap.

do a shitty job all summer, do Landscaping, or Roofing, or Construction....some sort of fairly unskilled trade....it usually pays well 15-20 bucks an hour (cdn) work from like june to november and if you've saved some cash you should have about 10 grand at least....thats what i do....and it works out good

 
i work a job but don't understand why people would want to look fashionable or something with buying three pairs of pants/jackets with matching goggles. it's just sickening.

skiing is relativly cheap compared to other stuff im into such as atvs and dirtbikes get a good job during the summer that pays well and then by winter you should be set

 
steal ski clothing from big corporate stores(jackets snowpants goggles etc), raid garages and cars at night for things you can sell for$$ (especially alcohol), sell a little dope to the 8th graders at your local skatepark for incredibly high prices, and then buy an american pitbull and invest thousands into underground illegal dog fights...

a lot of kids are just spoiled little bitches, mostly racers for example. i have two jobs and i spend whatever money i can on ski shit. i dont make a lot of money because i live in new hampshire, im 16 and i can only work 48 hours a week when im not in school. but i love skiing so i just spend a lot of money on my ski stuff.

Im only 14 and i get payed $7 and hour and i dont have to pay for taxes, insurence, debt, car payments, or anything so it all goes to skiing, ill make 100 a week barely working.

ok no-one should be complaining about summer jobs. Most of you, including myself, don't have to be responsible for paying for anything really. So even if you work boring shitty 7 an hour jobs you still get to use all of the money for whatever you want. Your parents pay for your food, school, housing, etc etc so don't think you are all hardcore just for working hard over the summer. I have three shitty jobs that I hate but I know I still have it soooo easy. I know that this is a generalization, but I think it holds true for most younger people on this site.

 
If you stop driving you can save tons of money. I ride my bike to work and I save like 30 dollars in gas every three weeks and other expense sthat go along with driving a car. Or make a bunch of friends, preferably rich nice Christian ones, and have a birthday party (even if it isnt your birthday) and BANK.

thanks yoda^. dude, its not that expensive. get a pair of pants... lets say 150. a jacket, dosnt have to be majorly sick and popular, but thats like 150-200. and skis, just get used ones if your bitchin about expensive stuff. theres plenty of good stuff out there for cheap.

 
I joined the military... it's the worst job imaginable, but it gets me money to pay for ski equipment.

i just got fired, and totaled my car. but i still have about 4 months to save up for new bindings and boots. put all your spare change in a jar or something. in 3 months youll make at least 50$ doing nothing.
