So I saw this girl take a fall and It didn't look bad at all and then I realized that she wasn't moving and people rushed over to her and luckily there was a partolman close by and he saw. So I didn't go close cause I wasn't that curiouse but i was standing there and I heard her start screaming 'Wheres my hand, wheres my hand' and it was next to her head but she couldn't move and she couldn't see it. Holy shit it scared the shit outa me and I just had to get off the mountain.

Anyone else have experiances like this?

i broke my arm in 3 places and after i broke it felt like it was not attached to my shoulder she probaly broke her wrist

 
oh shit...never had an experience like that on skis, that shit creeps me out. I once saw a guy's leg turn a wholw 270 degrees the WRONG way around on a bike, and he was still attached to the pedal...that sent shivers down my spine...creeped the shit outta me

I've seen some harsh crap up the hill... one of the worst ones was a guy who managed to pole plant landing off a little hill thing that he managed to accidentally turn into a jump... right through his goggles, glasses, and his face. Out cold, blood everywhere, broken lens thing stuck in his eye (it looked that way, anyways; I wasn't about to get too close, not being a certified medic...) it was awful. Happened right next to me... I just stuck some poles in front of him so no one would hit him, got someone to stay bye him, and got the patrol. Pretty much wrecked that day... I have no idea if he was ok. I never saw him wake up, or anything.

last year at alpine meadows a 13 yr old girl got out of control on an intermediate run and slid headlong into a stand of trees and rocks. my parents saw it, and my dad went up to see if she was okay. some other guy went for help, and apparently the wreck was pretty brutal looking. afterwords my dad said that he fully expected to find the girl dead. and he did. he did cpr and revived a heartbeat, and then the patrol arrived and took over. my brother and i saw her being taken down in a sled with the patrolman still administering cpr as we went over the run on the lift. she was stablized enough to get her on the life flight heli to reno, where she was put on life support. apparently she stood no chance of survival without the life support equip, so after a day her family decided to let her go.

my dad was pretty shaken up over the whole thing, understandably.

makes you realize how somthing that we all do for fun can turn bad, even when people are just cruising the intermediate groomers...

my guess is that her hand wasnt seperated from her body, but she was paralyzed and couldnt feel shit. That would be so scary.

i know that when i got concussed, one of the patrollers that was stayin with my, who happens to be the bartender at the bar and a buddy of mine, said taht i kept sayin 'this is like the nightmare before christmas!'

i couple years ago a guy overshot a jump. he was unconcious coughing up blood, and going into convulsions. he had to get heli lifted off the hill. the hill is not where the most horrific accidents ive seen happened tho. car accident hands down.

if any of oyu were on the blackomb glacier this summer, you may recall the guy in the pipe who sliced his wrist....3ft wide, byt 1 ft deep blood pool...it was crazy.

i came down on the deck of the okemo pipe (which is big) and my pole caught the lip and shot me in the neck.

also some girl died on defiance last year after going in between the poles that hold up a trail sign and into some trees. her foot was still in the boot when they found it and her skull was crushed even though she was wearing a helmet.

my buddie was sooo stoned skiing, we were bobmin down some trail and he ate shit in front of me so I roll up and he is freakin out 'cause he cant see a thing. turns out he hit so hard his ear hole in his helmet shiffted over his nose so he couldn't see a thing, f'n funny

.................at that point I started to cry...mainly 'cause I sat on my balls. I banged this chick so hard one time..she had to adjust her cant.
 
No I musta not typed it right. She had broken her neck and was paralyzed, her hand was still attched but she couldn't move it or feel it i guess and since it was behind her head where she couldn't see she didin't think it was there.

damn this thread really killed my mood. I sorta know the panic of when that kinda thing happens. in 7th grade i was kickflipping some stairs and i landed on the my front truck on a rock and flew headfirst into a sharp metal pole. all i remeber was lying there onthe ground in a pool of blood, looking at the sky thiking i was gona die.

last year i was going off a table at pico, ended up spaztically doing a cork 7 and landed on my face on ice, i guess i overshot the landing by10-20 feet. my goggles jammed into my cheeck so i got 6 stitches. i cant remember anything after being in the 540 position in mid air. i had a helmet on but i still got a concussion. i didn't remember anything for like 15-20 i think. my friends said that'd id be like'what did i do?' then they said'man u just did like a cork 7 type of thing and landed on ur face. then like a minute later i would go 'man what did i just do?' i guess i did that a few times.

I watched a boarder try to do a backflip onto a picnic table and he landed on his head. He simply went limp and slid to the ground not moving. The last i saw off him was a bounch of skipatrolers taking him down.

 
like this isnt skiing but like for football our coach had us watch some old movie on braking ur neck when ur tackling. and like the ones that were paralyized (sp) would just fall to the ground all limp and everything. it was kinda scary

thats fuckedup, most of our ski patrolers a. cant ski, or B. have no clue waht to do, cus they really are not trained to well

holy shit thats so fucking scary....I saw a teenager probably 18 yrs old and he dropped like a 76 ft cliff it was huge! and he landed perfect a hedidnt c the cliff right after that and he jumped off of that and he hit a tree and impaled himself I told ski patrolers up at the top and went down with them and when we got to where he was he was all limp...no body movment at all...such a bad way to die.

 
ive never gotten seriously injured or seen anyone get injured skiin or on the hill. for some reason, i think snow is 'safe' so i never really think about it. i guess thats why our school wont allow a ski club, but then again we have a mountain bikin club and a paintball club...

^was it a competition? dang this is so depressing... i must say that one day this guy fell at chamrousse in france in front of me and his ski popped up all weird like, he fell onto its edge and it sliced clean into his thigh, blood everywhere, and thank goodness he didn't pull the ski out, or he would have lost all his blood...

All of these stories depress me. Just 2 days ago I had to get some stitches on my leg cause i fell through some rocks. i have a nice and deep cut, but it's nothing compared to being paralysed or dead. I feel sorry for those who won't be able to ski again.
