before I read this I had recently adopted the ideal of "dont care about anything in skiing but being able to ski for yourself / with people that like to ski"

...i feel stronger about that now that ever after reading it...

it's not THIS that makes me loath skiing in this sense...it's thing JUST like this. this is a wonderful example.
