No but really, critique this. its all gopro footy since i just got it so i know the the filming is kinda shitty but please tell me how to improve more the editting side of it.

TANKS

It looked a little underexposed maybe. Your snow seemed grey instead of white, but that could also be your white balance. I'm not sure how much of that you can control on a gopro though.

I feel ya on that. The light was pretty flat that day also, i did a bit of color correction but if anything i gave it more contrast. but thanks for the imput

Yea you got to work with the lighting you got and sometimes it's difficult. Only thing I would say is maybe aim the camera a little more up on some POV shots so we can see a little more of what's ahead other than just the snow, but that's not a huge deal. Looked good!

Super clean man, I made something kinda like it a few days ago, I really like my gopro for those days when you just wanna ski and don't want to get out the big camera and tripod etc...

I felt the soft edges in some of the shots were distracting, other then that I liked it, what year is your jeep?

yeah i wish i hadnt made the soft edges quite as noticable. but i def feel ya. it kinda blows bringing all that stuff. and i think like 99 but its my buddys so idk for sure

You know how lowering the blacks and raising the whites can give the image some tonal "punch?" Well, it doesn't work well with snow footage. That's because most of the image is at the upper end of the tonal spectrum, which is why lowering the blacks doesn't bring out snow detail, and instead makes it so there's less detail in the trees/people.

Here's an easy trick you can do with the levels to make it look more clear:

(optional: when transcoding GoPro footage in MPEGstreamclip, lower contrast to 80% in the adjustments window before transcoding)

1. Apply 3-way Color Correction

2. Adjust blacks so that they're dark as possible while still retaining detail.

3. Lower mids until entire image looks underexposed.

4. Raise whites to compensate. Make them bright as possible without clipping.

This method will create contrast in the snow and bring out all the details without making dark objects appear too dark.

And too mainstream. Baker is the hipster mountain of America because nobody goes there (I blame glacier and the drive up)

I blame hippies and its mom-n-pop model.

Funny story, I saw a tall t at Baker for the first time yesterday. Every time I saw him in the lift line, people were making fun of him to no end.
