Make boots stiffer?

So I finally got new boots, Atomic Hawx pro 90, and they are the first boot I've ever owned that has actually fit properly, they were also the only boot in the entire shop that fit me so I got them at a killer price because the dude is such a lad, anyway, I noticed they flex a little more than I'd like and I was wondering if there is any way I can make my boots stiffer? even if its just marginally, anything would help

Intuition power wrap + booster strap

Would not make the boot any stiffer, maybe more comfy and responsive, but not stiffer. OP try tightening the cuff maybe? on the boot where the ball of your ankle is there should be some kind of screw. you could try playing with that or talk to a fitter. PS a good liner and booster strap are the fucking shit.

Ski in them for a day. Boots tend to get a bit stiffer in the cold depending on the plastic. If you still find that you are over flexing the boot then look into other options as far as tweaking.

From what I remember the 90s do not have any flex adjustment from the factory only the "burlier" versions have the bolts you can add or remove the adjust flex. I'm not sure on your exact boots(I would take them to a reputable shop), but it is possible for a good shop/bootfitter to add rivets to the back of the boot or cut/shave the lower shell of the boot to adjust the flex of some boots.

I could be completely off base but I've been under the impression that the Power Wrap specifically, not all intuition liners, added stiffness because it's reenforced in the cuff and ankle.

Makes sense, not sure if it would be noticeable though.

First, as already mentioned, ski them first and see what you think. How that particular boot feels at room temperature vs. -15°C are different things, and you might be fine when you actually go skiing.

If that ends up not being the case, your local boot-fitter can do certain tricks to stiffen the boot up before having to resort to purchasing a new liner or additional components.

These tricks will gain you about 5-15 flex points depending on what is being done/what the shop is capable of doing. A 90 is a fairly soft boot that utilizes a fairly soft plastic in general, so getting it proper stiff will not be realistic because the shell and cuff aren't naturally super supportive.

But... if you truly think they are too soft for you now, you could return them unused and have your friend at the shop order you the 110 version that has the same (actually better) fit. That model will allow you to stiffen the flex a further 10 points if you need to.

A stiff booster strap would absolutely make it feel stiffer if you tighten it enough. Also, most of the time the screw by your ankle adjusts the cant, not the stiffness. OP I would put an expert flex booster on there and see if that helps.

If you really want to adjust the flex, get a ZipFit Liner. From people that are on them, they can stiffen the boot and improve the energy transfer to your ski.

Only for a lowly $400

No way he is going to put Zipfits in a boot like that. The zips cost more than the boot. He might as well buy a whole new stiffer boot if that's the case.

That being said I'm trying to get my hands on some zips....they look so sick

okay so sorry for dying and not replying to anyone for a while. I have skied in the boots over the weekend and they seem to be doing the trick, maybe being a tiny bit stiffer would be good so I'll take them into the guy I brought them from and ask about the bolt thingy, as this is the end of the NZ season im not going to bother until next season when I'm skiing more, as long as they do me for my level 1 ski instructor cert I'll be happy. also thanks to everyone who replied.
