To most of you the idea of professional video games sounds nerdy, which it somewhat is, but if you enjoy playing video games competitively you should definitely check it out. I'm one of the more well known community members and players. Check out www.mlgpro.com if you want to browse around and see what it's like. Since there are so many CoD players on here, many of you would probably want to check this out.
Post your thoughts, and if you have any questions feel free to ask me, I've been a member for over 5 years, and have placed as high as 5th at an event.

i use to partake in mlg back during the halo 2 days and GRAW/Vegas days, shit can get intense. my buddy still does it for halo 3, he won 8 grand this past summer in atlanta

If you're talking call of duty the current settings prohibit the shotgun from use. Which I think most people prefer because it's the biggest load of bullshit.
As for Halo, it depends on the map and gametype settings

That seems so weird. The 1887s I can understand. The Spas though is legit and I think matches its' real world couterpart pretty good.

You also have to take into account what will make the game the most competitive and having entire teams run around with shotguns is, a) not very fun, b) doesn't require very much skill, c) doesn't make for a good viewing experience.

yea i went to some events and what not and was on gamebattles for a bit, just got tired of it a few months ago though tired of all the gay ass people i guess, but yea i used to be into it and was pretty good.

what events did you go too?
and yeah a lot of the kids that have recently joined the community are hella lame.

iv only been to the anaheim events but i did go to orlando once, it was fun while it lasted also did alot of just regular tournaments overall i think i got around 10 grand the whole time, cod, halo and gow

my gt is scott0 robot0 and i wont money in cod3 cod4 some local cod waw tournies and mw2 tournies, a little in halo2 and 3 and than gow as well, and socom some as well but i dont really play xbox anymore.

COD4 had online events, and then the final few matches at the national championship.
Currently the 2010 season hasn't been announced yet, but MLG does have gametype and map settings for CoD:MW2

what was your MLG names?

i use to play MLG for halo 2 back in the day, with fonzi, rS shooK on3, and all those guys.

Sadly, Rainbow wasn't a title on the Pro Circuit this season, and I'm almost certain it won't be this season either. Not enough support for it at tournaments, the most teams that ever showed was probably around 50

I used to play cal-m for CoD and CoD2 on PC, but then i gave up PC gaming when i realized how much it'd cost to keep up.... do they have MLG for PC games too or is it just TWL and cal?

MLG has WoW, which is pretty lame, and they only had it at a few events. I'd like to see them expand to more PC games, but I doubt it will happen

I think the PC community already has a pretty good setup with cal and whatnot anyways... although PC gamers would rape console guys at any FPS.

Problem is that CAL died along with CPL.
And saying they'd rape them at any FPS doesn't really make any sense because both play on different systems. I've played top tier Halo 2, and then I've played CAL-invite CS:S and CAL-premier 1.6

Both are completely different games, but the level of competition is far higher in Halo, which leads to having more skill required to be at the top of your game. Call of Duty is one of those games you can pick up, and be good within a week. But thats not to say CoD doesn't take any skill at all, because playing in the gamebattles latter against some of the top teams is pretty challenging.

Yeah i was more referring to just mouse + keyboard being superior...

so what do people do without cal and cpl?

2 of my boys used to travel for halo and do it for 1 and 2 they were nasty, McGavin and Smogre, he got interviewed for MTV when the covered the OGRE borhters for Halo 2, i paly Cod with him from time to time still

word. It took me over a year to get good enough at halo 3 that I could play for an hour or 2 and have a positive k/d in every game. I picked up COD and was putting down comparable numbers in about 2 weeks

obviously mlg players in either game are great but there's nothing in COD that can compare to the skill it takes to get your 4 shots down with the BR. I'm lucky if I get one every couple games but the pros make it look so easy

he joined the air force i believe and hes posted up in south dakota recently, he has taken interest in COD since halo fell off the map, and just like halo he picked it up, but he doesnt game too often any more

yeah im from the same town as them, its so funny man, i was always able to hop into parties with top of the top pros and they would rape. all those kids are so good at gaming, i get to see them shred shit like guitar hero and other games at home, which they are unreal at and they always just introduce me to the best games, im not too bad myself
