There is also a link the the NYT article within the Yahoo one. What do you guys think about this supposed sentiment? Is it really that common and is it good or bad? I rather like being part of a "niche" sport.

Even if freeskiing grew 200%, it would still be a niche sport. I bet you asked 100 people to name a snow sports athlete, 95 of them would name a ski racer or Shaun White, or "that guy with the mohawk".
