Main stream skis or smaller brands?

Depends on the brand for quality and I like supporting brands that give back to freeskiing in the form of teams/events/videos

I have 4frnt and moment skis, both are good quality (you'll pay more) I also have tried a lot of basic park skis arvs, twps, sights, revolts, they all are nice. Moment vices are my only park ski rn because I've never felt the need to replace them. I know moment is known for quality too, 4frnts hold up but I don't ride park with them so I don't know what you're asking really.

I have a pair of j skis and on3ps. And they are some of the best I have ever owned. I used to be a long long rossi whore and they treated me really really well. I love Salomon boots but not thier skis.

I do like the idea of north american made skis a lot

I have a pair of 3 or 4 year old Allplays that just lost their first chunk of edge, but people are saying that the newer pair don’t last as long

Yeah I legitimately bought a pair one night when I was drunk and they have been some dam good skis.

I like smaller. Big fan of Fauna lately but there’s a few brands I like. Misfits are an example. I like brands that aren’t afraid to shake it up. I like what 1000 is doing with sustainability but nothing about their tech excites me too much besides the pre-preg fiberglass, etc.

Season is on my radar for the future too.

I know compared to an atomic/k2/head etc etc moment is still smaller but as a whole I feel moment as really made the jump above small company.

I would hardly consider it a small company by any means. That being said they are amazing. American made using almost all American sourced materials only switching when something else is truly better like the edge material they source from Europe.

smaller for sure, you generally pay more for a pair of skis but the quality is noticeably better than some of the bigger companies ive ridden.

If the niche begins at ON3P, Jskis, 1000, Season, Liberty, Pusu, etc. small or smallish companies with focus on craftsmanship and/or some kind of niche within a niche like the all black of Season or all red of 1000, where does this section of the industry end?

Are Faction, Moment, or Movement for example small enough for this ballpark? This, of course, is an opinion based philosophical question with no right or wrong answers.

I do not think faction is in the question, but I do think moment and movement are in the ballpark of smaller brands.

Moment is the biggest ski manufacturer in the states and Faction is the smallest of the big ones. This is just the thing I was after. Where's the line?

I have never seen someone with cracked edges on their on3p’s

Posts like this are why people say on3ps are overrated

my woodsmans are nearing the end of their 3rd season as my daily driver skiing park and lots and lots of east coast tree skiing. Considering the abuse they’ve been through they are in absolutely incredible condition, I think I will get 2 more seasons out of them at least. They have one edge crack, but 0 core shots, which is insane cause pretty much every other ski I’ve ridden gets a core shot by the end of the first season.

It is the biggest in-house builder in the USA. Biggest of the small. They still build in-house and individually set their edges. They are relatively uncommon outside of the USA. Faction can literally be found everywhere across the globe. Faction’s market share is so much larger that it’s not even a comparison. Apples to oranges.

Which companies are between the two? Like bigger than the biggest small ones, but smaller than the smallest big ones. Faction is big for sure, but still far from the big boy league. And they of course don't make their own skis.

You see factions in almost every ski shop I’ve been to in the last 3 years across the globe??

I think you’re underestimating how huge faction is now.

Well I've seen Factions on the shelf like twice so must be some kind of bubble of mine ?

But seriously, at which point a ski manufacturing company or a ski brand stops being large small company and becomes a small large company?
