Magnified snow looks really weird

these pictures are pictures of the most magnified snowflakes ever.

these pictures are weird. you can see the structure and all these straight lines and right angles, looks more like a building structure than a snowflake.

thats just the look that electron microscopes give it gives it a caly/fake look in comparisson heres a pic of a spider on the same type of microscope

For the most part electron microscopes are black and white, the kinda turquoise blue ones are false color images. Still crazy though

the blue could be die to see it easier, but ones that have different shades are fake colored. the second one is total bullshit, but only has one shade

their actually all real. parts of some pictures were colored to make identification easier but they are all snowflakes straight out of an electron microscope

yeah I heard that too. the guy who said that probably went to every country where it snows and checked out every snowflake there. and then did it again the next time it snowed keeping a log of all the snowflakes in case 10 years from now in Mammoth theirs a snowflake that looks identical to a snowflake from 3 years ago in new zealand.

An electron microscope has no color a computer compiles the data and forms it into an immage so none of those are actual color.

Also fucking coolest shit ever the first one with the right angles? if that is really snow then damn there is so much we dont know.

that first picture is snow magnified to the highest possible magnification. magnifying it more doesnt show any other sub structures to the snow.

Deffinatly the coolest thing I've seen today, its crazy how they freeze to be geometrically identical.
